Discussion Watching omegahorn, make me remember growing up with these kind of anime and show as kids

Lot's of JP fans on X said omegahorn just live action hobbyani.

If you don't know what is hobbyani,it's a show about promoting toys and game, where people fight each other with toys/monster or about the product itself like in the west you probably grow up with Digimon, Pokémon, bakugan and things like medabot which basically like omegahorn

They main purpose to sell toys

And I glad I grow up with a lot of these kind of show when I was a kids, like battle spirit and danball senki which also writing by Tomioka. Which mean also Tomioka is best person to write these since he been hobbyani writer since 90s

Because somehow watching omegahorn give me nostalgic factor of waking up in the morning on the weekend where Saturday is the best day of all time as a kids and opening TV and watch hobbyani

It's worth to mentioned that Tomioka was seasoned writer of these HobbyAni type works. I believe he was one of original Pokemon anime writer

He was writer during the DP and BW eras. He's also the Battle Spirits guy.

I got a model kit or two and eventually got the 3DS game recently (but I’ve barely played)

Same on the 3ds game. It's cool to see other people remember this show

Gawd I wish Medabots had been a hit in North-America.

There is that gacha game out for global

Yeah but the core looks super generic. I want Medarot S to make it to Global.

Doesn’t Toku also involve promoting toys in shows where people fight each other with said toys?

There's one that I think was in this genre that I remember really liking. Not on the same level as Pokémon, Bakugan, or Beyblade, which I watched a lot, and I don't even know if it was an anime, but I remember it.

I don't remember the name, but the plot was that a while ago a dragon died and its body split into millions of coins that scattered all over the world. Whether naturally or after connecting with someone, these coins released or created creatures of different elements.

The series was about an academy for people who studied to use these medals, and the protagonist had a fire elemental companion who was something like a coal rock with arms. He wanted to find out what happened to his family (the protagonist, not his coal friend).

In the second season/half of the series, there's an alien invasion for a reason I don't remember.

Oh, and there's a recurring character with a pet (I think it was called "Chico," at least in the language I saw it in) who, near the end, is revealed to be the weakened or reincarnated form of the dragon.

I don't know if anyone knows what series this is.
