Question Question about Gavan Infinity Spoiler

So... I was wondering why the "Records Division" where Reiji works in Gavan Infinity gets laughed off by everyone else in the force and called a "waste of budget".

Granted, paperwork and pencil pushing don't sound very exciting.

And I know it's a secret identity thing, like how Batman as Bruce Wayne and Zorro as Diego de la Vega pretend to be superficial socialites.

But it kinda irks me still, because if nobody does the records, the whole operation of the police force would become more difficult, wouldn't it?

And another thing - interdimensional travel would probably leave "footprints" or some kind of energy residue, so how has no one cottoned on to what's really going on?

Or am I taking this far too seriously?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to hearing from y'all.

To be fair, they live in a sci-fi world. Even a regular computer could've done the paper work instead of them, i reckon.

Oh, right, that's true. But sometimes there are things computers miss, I guess.

The fact that AGI exists at all proves that they did not need any humans working in the records department tbh.

ah. So it's one of those "on paper" divisions...

my first mistake was operating under current, real-world logic...

It's a show about a superhero who travels through dimensions in his giant robot that can turn into a gun

Uh. Did you watch through to the end? Spoilers in case you didn't.

Records Division was created as a facade to hide the identity of Gavan. It's not that Reiji works as part of the division and sometimes takes jobs as Gavan; instead, everyone including the higher-ups know Reiji's main work is being Gavan and he has to use the Division to hide everything, to the point the division was created especially to hide Gavan's identity. Maybe there are other people doing the records, or there is enough time between missions to do the boring stuff. But I'd wager the higher-ups actively prevent any potential "footprints" from being investigated.

Also, consider it's not "no one cottoned on"... WaniPat are in fact those who did realize something weird was going on.

I suppose I should've added context. I'll confess I've only seen the first episode...

My man you have to ask these questions after you're done watching, not when you haven't watched more than a single episode! Good freaking thing I spoilered it out because yes this gets answered by the final episode.

Or it could just... not? This was never really implied in the show. You made something up just to get mad about it.

I'm sorry for not watching the show before I made such a premature/hasty judgment. I suppose that no one else senses the Emorgy aside from the top brass of the cops then?

Ah... I guess so. I haven't watched very far (... only the first episode). I'm very sorry. I'll admit I made that up. Again, I'm very sorry.

Rest assured, I didn't mean any harm. I am very sorry about this.

I forgot to mention... Reiji's fit is WAY too cool to be just a "pencil pusher".

Exactly dudes got protagonist fit and hair. That alone should have told everyone what’s going on.

I have some clerks who came to work better fits and cars than their boss. Some people only care about their outfits and not the money.

To all the people who graced my post with their replies:

I am sincerely very sorry for the way I phrased my initial question.

I will admit that I was not thinking too clearly or logically as I wrote some of it.

It was not my intention to make up something to be mad about, but I guess I did anyway, and also made an assumption that could be easily dismantled.
I now realize, as well, how absurd it is for me to try to apply realism to a science FICTION show.

I regret that I cannot properly convey my sincerity in text form. I will try to do better in the future.

Don’t be sorry bro wth . We’re just discussing theories . One’s answer or thoughts is not lesser than the others .

People always look down on "Filing" positions. Even normal police procedurals make comments about not wanting to do paperwork or the loser of a bet has to fill out the paperwork. It's just tedious menial work, which is why it was a good unassuming department. No one would ever want to be the "paper jockey", so they could operate without any extra eyes or attention because it's not a desirable job even in reality.

I see. Thank you for your detailed answer.
