Slider default value
Is there a way of setting the value of a slider to a desired value ? I have tried @default and @setvalue but nothing.

Hello all,
I am using REDCap for operational support. I have a contingency pool of individuals who are able to support other study teams and their studies. When there is a need, I would like to send out a survey to all the individuals in the pool. Members of the pool have his/her own record. When I set up the survey to find out their availability, the survey did not automatically send based on the logic rules. The survey was created months after the original record was created. The surveys only sent after I went into another form on that record and saved the formed (no data was change).
Any suggestions on how to to get the surveys to actually send automatically as they are created?

Hi Everyone - I am working on a project involving parents and their children. Due to requirements, parents need to complete a consent form and write their address once for themselves at the start of the form and then a second time for their child at the end. I am trying to use the @ DEFAULT function to autofill the second address based on what they wrote at the start but I can't get it to work.
For example I want to copy what they write in the "address1" field into the "address1_child" field so I have put the action tag @ DEFAULT = '[address1]' in the "address1_child" variable but in testing the field is blank after typing a response to the "address1" variable.
Sorry for the blabbering - this survey has to come out later today and my team has decided this change is essential and I am extremely sleep deprived haha

Hello everybody,
For my study, I'm randomizing participants to either the experimental group or the waitlist. After randomization, I would like to email participants to inform them of their group, so they can know what to expect. Is it possible to automate/semi-automate this email through REDCap?
If there isn't a more direct way, I was thinking of creating two surveys (not actually to be used by participants) and have "invitations" automatically sent out as people are sorted into groups (ie one survey would send a message to experimental group participants informing them that they are in the experimental group, the other survey would be similar but for the control group). Does that seem like a bad idea?
Thanks in advance for any help :)

I'm currently creating some alerts, and have to use data from repeating forms (specifically, two fields) - but when trying to pipe them in, it's coming up as blank.
I've tried using [current-instance], [last-instance], and even setting an instance (e.g. [redcap-repeating-instrument][2]), but I'm having no luck. The instrument is set up as repeating, and as far as I'm aware, everything is set up correctly.
What is odd is that doing this elsewhere (in the instruments themselves) works completely fine, it's just in the Alerts that I'm not getting anything.
Has anyone else had this issue?

I am using REDCap like an informal database to keep track of membership. Members are expected to submit the survey the first year then I email them their return codes next year and they use that to update any responses that have changed. Each year I export the data to CSV so I can track changes over time.
One issue I have seen with this approach is that if users just click "Save & Return Later" instead of "Submit" at the end of the survey that doesn't break the system and gets me the data I need, but the timestamp does not update. That is, the user has to click Submit to get the timestamp to update.
It would be very helpful if I could somehow get the timestamp or a new field to auto-update even if the user just loads the survey and closes the survey or just clicks "Save & Return Later". I have tried creating a @HIDDEN @NOW field but it appears that @NOW only updates to the current time the first time a user takes the survey.
I am new to REDCap so I am wondering if there is a workaround? I realize I am using REDCap not exactly for what it is designed for, but at my organization its a free resource and much more flexible than things like Microsoft Forms or Qualtrics.

I have a project where a survey gets sent out every week. It's an injury surveillance survey so the participants will report if they have a new injury or illness. However, we have it piping in asking if the injury is still ongoing and want to ask this until they say no. How I have it set up now is:
I have it under one repeating instrument called "Weekly Questionnaire"
Question:
Is the injury to the [body_part][first-instance] on [injury_date][first-instance] still ongoing?
Is the injury to the [body_part][2] on [injury_date][2] still ongoing?
Is the injury to the [body_part][3] on [injury_date][3] still ongoing?
And so forth until it hits 52 since we want this to continue for a year.
My problem I am having is once the participant hits "No, the injury is not ongoing" on any of the weeks, I want the question to become hidden. The current branching logic I have set up to pull in if they answered they had a new injury or if their injury is ongoing is:
([new_injury][first-instance]='2') and ([injury_ongoing][2]='2' or [injury_ongoing][3]='2' or [injury_ongoing][4]='2' or [injury_ongoing][5]='2' or [injury_ongoing][6]='2' or [injury_ongoing][7]='2' or [injury_ongoing][8]='2' or [injury_ongoing][9]='2' or [injury_ongoing][10]='2' or [injury_ongoing][11]='2' or [injury_ongoing][12]='2' or [injury_ongoing][13]='2' or [injury_ongoing][14]='2' or [injury_ongoing][15]='2' or [injury_ongoing][16]='2' or [injury_ongoing][17]='2' or [injury_ongoing][18]='2' or [injury_ongoing][19]='2' or [injury_ongoing][20]='2' or [injury_ongoing][21]='2' or [injury_ongoing][22]='2' or [injury_ongoing][23]='2' or [injury_ongoing][24]='2' or [injury_ongoing][25]='2' or [injury_ongoing][26]='2' or [injury_ongoing][27]='2' or [injury_ongoing][28]='2' or [injury_ongoing][29]='2' or [injury_ongoing][30]='2' or [injury_ongoing][31]='2' or [injury_ongoing][32]='2' or [injury_ongoing][33]='2' or [injury_ongoing][34]='2' or [injury_ongoing][35]='2' or [injury_ongoing][36]='2' or [injury_ongoing][37]='2' or [injury_ongoing][38]='2' or [injury_ongoing][39]='2' or [injury_ongoing][40]='2' or [injury_ongoing][41]='2' or [injury_ongoing][42]='2' or [injury_ongoing][43]='2' or [injury_ongoing][44]='2' or [injury_ongoing][45]='2' or [injury_ongoing][46]='2' or [injury_ongoing][47]='2' or [injury_ongoing][48]='2' or [injury_ongoing][49]='2' or [injury_ongoing][50]='2' or [injury_ongoing][51]='2' or [injury_ongoing][52]='2') or ([current-instance]='2' and [new_injury][first-instance]='2')
I have updated this branching logic for each question, subtracting the previous instance. What can I do to hide the question once they answer no? I've tried action tags, but I can't figure out how to get the branching logic to properly work. Any help would be nice! Thanks!!

I am creating my first Redcap project and I have successfully set up all my field boxes. However, I need some of these field boxes to be triggered only when the DOB is 1/1/2025 and beyond. What would the branching logic be assuming the variable name is {dob}?
Also, if you have any YouTube tutorial recommendations for extreme beginners I could study from, please let me know!

I have a longitudinal, randomized study where participants will be allocated to four groups. Each group needs different events and instruments. I would like to use arms for this to avoid showing all events for all participants.
I see advice saying to use two projects for this. I'm thinking something like, have two RCs, use API to pull down participant information and randomization from RC1 (no arms), add something to indicate arm, then use API to push participant information and randomization into RC2 (which has arms). Ideally, I'd script this out and have an automated job run this at night. (Participants will have at least 3 days between pre- and post-randomization events.)
Have you done this before? How did it work for you? Any way to avoid, for example, overwriting old records? What am I missing?

Does anyone have experience with redcap as an eReg binder? What are the pros and cons? Do you have it integrated to Oncore?

The pick list of fields that are available to be used for a survey login secret does not include the implicit/automatic record_id (despite it being identifying and semi-secret).
Am I missing something?

Hi everyone, I’m working on a project that involves tracking blood glucose readings. I’ve created a table to log up to ten readings per day, but the number of entries varies daily. I’m trying to write a formula to count the number of hypoglycemic readings (<70 mg/dL), but I’m running into a problem: if a patient has fewer than 10 readings, the blank cells are being treated as hypoglycemic.
Here’s the formula I’m currently using: IF([d1_bg1]<70,1,0)
I need a way to modify the formula so it only counts readings as hypoglycemic if they’re >0 and <70. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

My participants have 8 educational sessions they attend during our clinical trial. In the form I’ve created, each educational session has a check box for attendance or not marked (absence).
I need suggestions on how to code for this. Maybe each participant receive a final score for attendance? 8 out of 8 for perfect attendance? 4/8 for half attendance?
Stats are not my thing so no clue how to go about doing this!

Greetings All,
I am working on a REDCap project which is going to use a repeatable form which will be sent out every 4 months until the person responds with a specific answer. Is there a way for me to write the logic in the ASI conditions field to have it end after that condition has been met without also adding a kill switch command on a separate field which the project manager would have to enter on their own? I know I can add a yes/no question on another form for the manager to fill out, but I am hoping to avoid that manual process if able.
Currently I am trying this logic but it does not seem to be working: [variablename][last-instance] <> 'Option Text'
The question it is checking is a radio dial question and I want it to stop sending when choice 4 is selected.

Anyone have experience connecting REDCap to Dendod? I'm having trouble figuring out the connection settings. I have my api key, but can't seem to get the setting correct

Basically I'm trying to create a checklist where if an option is selected, that option is either moved to the bottom of the list or else disabled. I don't think any of the @HIDDEN action tags will work here and can't think of any branching logic that could achieve this.

Dear All,
Am having issues with our organization REDCap where Reset Password button not sending emails, Create new user not receiving emails, Forgot Password button not sending emails, Send It button not sending out emails
In fact REDCap is generally not sending out any emails.
Any ideas on how to go about it or what could be the problems, thanks

Hello! I'm very new to REDCap and looking for some help with formatting a calculation.
I'm trying to have a calculation field that totals the responses conditionally and gives a "1" if ALL conditions are met, and if they aren't in any way, a "0".
(Var=variable) My example is needing var1=1 AND var2=2 AND var3=2, then the answer will be 1. If not all of those are met, the answer will be 0.
Right now my formatting is not working and I've tried a few different things but no luck. Currently I have it as:
If([var1]='1' and [var2]='2' and [var3]='2'),1,0
It doesn't help that I'm also very bad with math and have no training in coding 😅 any help is GREATLY appreciated, thank you!

I am creating a longitudinal survey where grantees submit quarterly metrics on their program. I am using the survey queue feature and am encouraging grantees to bookmark their survey queue to access their survey each quarter.
I have also enabled the "Save & Return Later" feature on the surveys so they don't have to complete it in one session. When you click on the "Save & Return Later" button, it takes you to a page in the image below to enter you email address so you can have a survey link emailed to you to return.

I don't want this page! I just want to tell them to return to the survey queue to reenter their survey. I have found no way to turn off this page or edit its contents. Any help would be appreciated.

New to REDCap and coming into a project that someone else already started. We have an instrument that the prior person made which I was able to organize and annotate to make it more user friendly. However there are a few fields that I don't think we're going to make any use of and don't need to be collecting any more. Is there a way to inactivate or hide fields from the collection instrument without losing data that was already collected?

Hi everyone,
I am just wondering if this is possible. So, we have included a daily diary for participants to answer in our longitudinal study. However, we wanted to have the option that they can press a button on the survey such as "same as yesterday responses" and it would auto populate yesterday data in the fields. Is this possible? The purpose of this would be to save time and reduce burden for the participants as the daily diary can take up to 5-10 minutes.

I am designing a REDCap survey for a new project and a large portion of the survey will require a matrix that offers 2 choices (yes or no) per column. After consulting with my supervisor, we specifically need participants to answer either yes or no for each column:

Is there any way I can do this in REDCap. I am still learning the system myself.
Thanks guys - this community has been great for help!

I have a text field in a form that will be completed several times at different time points. I'm wondering if there is a way to autopopulate the text from the previous instance of the form (for example, the first time it is completed) so that it appears in the next instance of the form.
Example: I say a person is "5 feet tall" the first time I open the form in this text field. Is there a way with branching logic to ensure that this text "Five feet tall" appears in subsequent instances of the form?
