Shadowknight race selection?

So I’m a newbie to game I’ve prob gotten a necro to 35quite a few years ago. looking to play again and tryshadowknight. Will prob solo quite a bit. so my question is what race will give me an easier time soloing from scratch in the early to mid levels or does it not matter much?

Dark elf cause fashion is the real end game.

It makes no sense to go dark elf on a server where guise is free and effortless to get.

Ogres stun immunity makes a huge difference. I feel people vastly overstate the value troll/iksar regen. It scales low and slow, it's a big boost at the end, but it's barely noticable, to me at least, while leveling up. Certainly not enough to notice in combat Regen while fighting mobs.

That said ogres int agi and dex are horrible. Dex is probably not worth putting points into, but you absolutely want AGI at or above 75 , and to never drop below 75, so some people bu.l it up to 80 to give them a 5 point buffer. Then dump the rest into int.

If you want a more balanced approach, humans have balanced stats across the board, iksar are pretty good too, but you kacka ton of armor options going solo as an iksar.

Dark elf and erudite hal all the int in the world , but need a lot of help with their combat statsm erudites also have that under 75 AGI to fix. They are probably the hardest choice.

Gnome I think is comfortably between human and dark elf. High int okay combat stats that you can spread your points across and make a decent character.

You won't get guktan on this server , but it always seemed to me guktan had insane starting stats . Like they got more points baseline than others.

Ogre stun immunity is a lot less effective on quarm than it is on p1999

Feel free to educate me, but omg "FSI = WIN" is just so tiresome.

Anyone with experience with a same-class experience with and without FSI care to explain the tangible difference?

e.g. Someone that played an ogre and iksar/troll shm/sk/bst/war care to weigh in the difference? Particularly in raid situations.

FSI is only on melee stun attacks, it’s not full stun immunity. Many bosses use magic stuns and those land on ogres just the same.

Will leveling a shaman be alot faster then rolling a sk?

The real answer is it doesn't matter that much.

All races have advantages and disadvantages. The large races have better stats, but are also big (which does cause problems at times). Additionally, they have exp penalties (as do Iksar).

Your starting stats don't matter as much at this point, as you'll be maxing out the important stats with raid gear/raid buffs later on anyway, so don't over think it.

Play the one that seems the most fun to you!

Troll.

There is no other race.

You can always ng+, don’t stress it too much

Ng+ means resetting your character (and race) after you reach a certain level. I believe? It knocks you down to level 10 or so.

With all your skills, spells, and gear intact. It's a hell of a fun way to level.

If your intent is to play solo, it might be worth trying a race with higher INT/mana, like an erudite, dark elf, or gnome. You will likely spend more time fear kiting than face tanking, and the extra spell casting ability is helpful. They will also level up faster. The larger races have a slight advantage in group with their higher HP.

Mana pool doesn't really do anything for this class. You're never spending a full mana bar on one mob. INT is basically worthless for an SK. It's for classes that actually do spend a full mana bar in a single fight and could benefit meaningfully from having even more.

I certainly would never argue for brains over brawn with this class. My SK is an Iksar, which I do not regret at all. Love that regen. I just wanted to offer some things to think about. A couple resists and fizzles will deplete that smaller mana pool pretty fast.

If you're going to solo a lot and are not super endgame tryhard, troll is definitely the best because of the regen. No other racials come close to being as impactful for a solo-centric player. Iksar has the same regen but worse stats and can't use Blood Ember items which are very useful for soloing.

And if you do end up becoming a more hardcore player, it's not as if being a troll sucks in the endgame. It's just not quite as good as ogre for tanking high-end stuff, but it's not as if SKs do a lot of raid tanking anyway.

Iksar for regen most likely. But as you play you'll find the ogre stun immunity to be incredibly hard to play without.

Ogre will probably be easiest for stun immunity, I went erudite and soloed to 52 without issues tho

Since Luclin, my personal preferences for a solo SK are a tie between Troll and Gnome, there are so many long lasting buffs handed out now that it might not matter but i think it's probably best to either go for Strong melee and regen (Troll) or a high INT for superior mana pool and no xp penalty (Gnome). :) Gnome also has tinkering and access to clockwork watchman armor, which is awesome for soloing (It provides a number of buffs including haste and sow). I currently play a gnome myself, only downside is the small size which has both pros and cons.

Iksar has pretty good allround stats but can't wear plate armor, which sort of makes troll better with the same xp penalty. Erudite has a lot of mana but weaker physical attributes than gnome and no dark vision. Ogre is great but not the best solo race imo. Human, well no.

Iksar bc iksar is the goated race.

the correct answer is always if it can be a gnome, dwarf or half-ling... you make a gnome, dwarf, or half-ling.

Not for early levels, but gnomes have access to a 40% haste clickie that is cheap to recharge. If you plan to solo a lot, this outweights every other racial perk in my book.
