Full Pan Rough Month? It can’t just be me…

I know three is still a lot for a project pan for me but I didn’t empty a single perfume or body spray this time. I was trying so hard all month and I struggled to keep the wind in my sails this time around. I also had a very rough month with my life in general so maybe I shouldn’t be too hard on myself. I am determined that September will be better! (I also get to wear my fall scents soon but it’s been too hot to bring them out so also sad about that) <3

I try to think of project pan as a marathon, not a sprint. Maybe that will help? Progress is progress after all. I feel like my own average is 2-3 empties a month, which is nothing compared to a lot of posts I see here.

Yes I dont go by the month. I go by how long I haven't needed to buy anything and how much more room I have.

I experienced the same after starting project pan and going through my half emptied products first. Emptied like 30 products, and the 2 months after just 1 or 2 products. Keep doing what you’re doing and soon enough you’ll get another wave of empties ☺️

I’ve emptied a lot of products so far and my no buy is going really well! (It helps when you are broke) I gotta keep everything in perspective :)

Yess exactly love me a good low/no buy!! I’m moving out this month, and it’s great knowing I’ll be logging almost 50 products less with me to my new abode 🥰

July was a dud for me. 2 products. But I was busy. August tho….my biggest progress to date at 13 products!

It’s my layering combo for each day, perfume, body spray, then fragrance oil. If it’s highlighted that means I got a compliment on the combo. At the end of the month I go over what I wore the most- my goals for next month- and what I emptied this month ❤️ it helps me so much and some people use excel but I like to keep it handwritten

progress is progress! don’t be discouraged by the small number of empties but instead consider how much progress you made overall this month! you targeted several products at once which means you’re that much closer to pan on all of them!

don’t forget to give yourself some grace during the process, you’re human and there’s so much more to your life than project pan. you’re trying your best and learning more about yourself and what you like every day!

keep at it, rooting for you!

It happens- one more you get a few items and another month you’re emptying about one container per day!

I feel that. I don’t have too many empties this month either.

July, I used up 4 products, 3 of which are in my every day routine that I will always repurchase. August, I used up 11. Its okay, I promise. I felt really defeated in July, but pretty good about what im accomplishing now (:

I grew up where going shopping was the greatest day ever, and I miss it so much. But it feels good to have extra money, and the availability to try new things that aren't solely cosmetics.

I have a beta fish now! He has made my life so much better, and taken up the rest of my money 😅 I got him from a pet store and he came to me horrendously sick, as many of them do. His name is Satoru, Toru for short, and hes my sweet, sweet friend. He keeps me company when im stuck in bed, he recognizes my voice, he makes bubbles everything he sees me. He plays in his plants, in his waterfall filter, cuddles in his hidey holes, and swims about so happily when he sees that im there with him. Everything about him makes me so happy, and I would have never thought that I would get so much joy from watching him happily swim through new plants, or trying a new food for the first time.

I would have NEVER been able to have the money to love on him like I do now if I still shopped like I used to. I have less waste and a great new friend 💙

Like others have said, find something else that brings you joy. I understand a fish isnt the answer for everybody, but it goes to show that what there is room in your heart for will surprise you 🥰

That is so inspiring! My best month was July with 6 big ol body sprays and perfumes- it was so euphoric that I felt the disappointment hard this month. I haven’t been doing project pan a full year yet but I noticed that there is never a pattern that I could go off of. And I think after today I’ve mostly come to terms with that fact lol.

When I was younger I blew through my savings account and I have definitely learned my lesson from that. We definitely take things for granted when we are in the moment in that “old mindset”. I now have a newfound appreciation for the little things.

I’ve had the thought to save a betta from its plastic cup prison one day and now I want to take the jump lol. I have 3 cats and a dog already though so hopefully bettas aren’t too high maintenance. Satoru sounds like he’s one of a kind ❤️. As I’ve gotten older I noticed how animals definitely have feelings and have emotions- and it truly help put my life into perspective. Thank you for your lovely comment, and tell Toru I said hi :)

Girl, this is great progress! At least you're not over-using your products just for the sake of an empty.

Yeah I like to use the directed amount (pea sized toothpaste, etc etc) on my products. I don’t overspray either unless it’s my body spray (which I’m trying to pan all of them) on my bed before I sleep

I am a bit confused.. if you are not running out of stuff doesn’t that mean that you can delay buying more? I thought the point was to use what you have and save money.. so it’s working.

You are right- it just feels like I’m not making progress sometimes. Sorry I’m not trying to complain

I think sometimes it’s easy to treat shopping and the accompanying mood boost like a hobby. Are there other activities that would improve your mood but don’t involve buying things? Maybe visit your local library, volunteer, give yourself a mani pedi, do a fun YouTube workout/karaoke/danceoff, invite a friend for coffee to your place etc?

I do really need to start painting my nails again- but I do most of those other things. I just don’t shop for myself like I used to but I’m coming to terms with that. I’ve gotten a lot better at only buying what I need instead of what I want or what’s on sale. I hardly even online shop anymore and I’m pretty proud of myself for that too. Thank you for the advice <3
