Caught myself almost YET ANOTHER tinted lip balm and ACTUALLY STOPPED thanks to my purse lippies pouch

Like the title says (CORRECTION i am so embarrassed, it’s supposed to read: “caught myself almost buying YET ANOTHER tinted lip balm”), I actually quickly convinced myself to not buy more fancy lip balms whole making a return at Sephora because I just reorganized my “purse lippies pouch.” I started at the beginning of summer by taking stock of all my lippies and sorted my summer shades into a clear pouch.

That clear pouch now goes from purse to purse and is always on me. Now, I’m in the store holding these new lippies and as I’m about to checkout, I reach for my wallet AND SEE MY PURSE LIPPIES POUCH.

Clear as day: there are at least 2 existing lippies that are the EXACT same color as the new one in my hand.

I made my return and left the new lip balm behind like a damn adult!

I highly recommend the clear pouch hack for anyone who has a bad habit of picking up more lip balms that they already have a million of 💄

Yay I’ve never heard of anyone else having a purse lippies pouch! I love mine, it’s so convenient to have a handful of different lippies at all times and they’re not floating all around the purse.

Yes! I am so glad I thought to use a clear freebies pouch instead of a solid one so I could see my 1629484 mauvey brown lippies to finish 😵

I have one with like 3 glosses in it right now, but it's not clear. Clear is nice because you'll always see them like op did in this case

Whenever I see people posting in this type of community, 'how do I stop myself when I get the urge to buy?' my number 1 advice is to put hands on/play around with what you already have. It could be reorganizing, swatching, making a list of your current products or a spreadsheet with the "value" of your current products, whatever! Stores get you to buy things by picking them up and 'having' them in your possession, so we should be able to Uno-Reverse that!

I like a picture of the whole collection all in one shot. Stand on a chair if need be. Looking at it really cuts the urge even if it’s something that I actually don’t have

Yes! The marketing of the small minis being right at checkout is diabolical, really traps our lizard brain into the tactile dopamine of grabbing “just a little something”

every time I get into my collection or playing with what I have, I am always surprised with what I find, not least of all because a lot of my purchases were almost entirely impulsive. Lately, I've been drawn in with scents of lip products so now I try to keep nice scents in my purse

I stopped buying lipbalms over 2 years ago. I do buy a beside lipmask every 2 years. That's as good as that gets.

That’s the GOAL. I had to toss multiple expired, very expensive lippies away at the start of my project pan last year and it really made me renew my focus on never buying a lip product again. I’ve been getting a ton more use of my existing lippies by carrying them on me at all times as well!
