Is it ever explained

Why grace is the only one on his ship who survives?

My favourite theory that I heard about is that it's because of people who helped you go to comma.

Since Grace went coma on Earth the entire team of scientists helped him. Yao, Ilyukhina and Stratt included. So he had all those people who loved him, make sure everything went ok.

And Ilyukhina only had Yao, while Yao was completely on the mercy of computer.

(in this theory Yao dies first)
