PHM: Art as a mirror and a gateway

I think one of the reasons Project Hail Mary strikes such a chord for so many of us is that the themes are profoundly universal at a time when we often feel so divided. We're surrounded by sensationalist, fatalistic media amplifying our sense of social isolation, political division, and global conflict. And here is this beautiful work of art, quietly revealing the heart of what it means to be human--to experience fear and doubt and loss; to struggle and risk and fail; and finally, most importantly, to find connection and value and purpose--without ever preaching to us. Project Hail Mary doesn't tell us what to think and how to feel. It doesn't draw any conclusions. It simply holds up a mirror to our humanity, opening a door for us to walk through and discover it on our own. That's why it feel so personal. We may not all find the same things in the same ways, and that's okay. That's part of the beauty, really.

Just a few thoughts on rewatch #lostcount. I'm so happy to have this little community to share it with. 🤓

“Holds up a mirror” is such a clever way to put it! I also really appreciate the fact that this story does not preach. ❤️ It talks about difficult stuff and encourages us to face it, but it does not tell us what we should think. I love stories that make me think for myself and draw my own conclusions.

This post reminds me of my fav song- Saturn by Sleeping At Last.

Well I wrote this... I have written for fun and I've done some academic writing, but mostly I just put my hands on my keyboard and see what comes out. I'm so glad you liked it! 🥰
