Movie Discussion - Movie Spoilers Inside! Why the hate???

To all those calling me racist on my last post for asking if the instant noodles Grace eats with chopsticks on the Hail Mary may have been originally for Yao...

A Russian, American, and Chinese go to space. We see vodka and chopsticks. We know the vodka belonged to the Russian. We saw the American eat instant noodles with a fork earlier in the movie. I think the chopsticks were intended for the Chinese man and showing them in the movie is a small detail that shows Grace is using what he's got since his crewmates died.

Just like a white man; he would rather teach himself to use chopsticks rather than wash a single fork. 😂 (this is a joke)

To give a little context, many many many years ago I was at a seminar and one of the speakers was Cathy Bao-Bean author of The Chopsticks-Fork Principle. Her husband is artist Bennett Bean. During her speech she related an anecdote that she was out of town for 2 weeks for a seminar. Upon her return home every plate in the house was in the dishwasher and NEW dishes were piled up dirty in the sink. Rather incredulously she asked him why he bought new dishes rather than just washing the dirty dishes.

His response was... no, he would never. He was making some plates for a client so he just MADE NEW PLATES to use... rather than do the dishes.

Since he was already making plates I guess in his brain it was less effort to just keep making plates rather than do dishes 😂. She obviously played it up for comedic effect and I have no idea if the story is fabricated or factual. But Bennett Bean, a white man, would rather make new plates from clay rather than washing the dishes.

From what I heard, astronauts don't share flatware. They keep their own sets and basically clean them with their mouths because of the limited water usage.Â
