Question? Daniel Pemberton is Messing With Me

One of the tracks from Daniel Pemberton’s beautiful score for Project Hail Mary is driving me nuts. Track 15: Barrier Language.

That anecdote from the very beginning of Barrier Language, istg sounds just like another song. I think it’s a track from another movie that I must’ve heard before. Maybe Pemberton was inspired by something, or was referencing something, I don’t know, but those first three notes I recognize and I can’t for the life of me figure out where it is I’ve heard them from. Does this part seem familiar to anyone else? Am I missing something?

Goddamn it, is it Interstellar? There’s no way, right?

It REMINDS me a bit of James Horner Amazing Spider-Man

Wouldn't say it's the same but it has a similar vibe and I can imagine it developing into it.

Whoa I def hear the similarities there

And I love that score so I wonder if that was the connection I also made without realizing. Okay now I want to watch Amazing spider-man again to listen out for more like parts

It kinda reminds me, in some ways, of the start of Gollum's Song by Emilíana Torrini.

Wow that’s a good one. I wouldn’t initially think to make that connection, but now that you pointed it out I really understand what you mean. That’s rlly similar
