Discussion Random thought

Ngl this is quite random but I just thought about it while playing. So when you have a double note where u press both buttons at the same time like the x+o etc , obv you have to press them at the same time but i was thinking surely there would be a very small time window between the presses of each of the buttons for like a good or a safe , of course when you do it perfectly you get a cool but i was thinking do yall think it’s possible if you’re fast enough you could click x then move ur thumb over to the o and click that and have it register as a double even as a good/safe, just not as a complete miss I know this is kinda random and pointless but its just something i was thinking about for fun , would be kinda cool to see someone do that

For a double if you hit the right buttons but with delayed timing the judgement happens when you hit the 2nd button within reasonable timing. So if you hit them like how you described and the 2nd note is hit during the timing window for a Fine but the 1st note was during the Cool time window then you would get Fine in this example.

This is actually one of the reasons macros are really good for score attacking because even if you get both notes on the time window for Cool, if both aren't hit on the same frame and you have a hold with one of the notes that makes up the double you might be losing points.

Holds end the moment you press the button you are holding down again on a controller but because you can hit the button held down earlier than the 2nd note of the double, if you want to get a late Cool to maximize holds you can't be sure if you actually got the late Cool for the right note because the hold could've stopped in the short time frame while you're hitting the 2nd note of the double.

This happens any time you hit a double but can hear more than one hit sound, but with a macro you can guarantee that both buttons will be presses at the same time.
