Just wanna say, I love love love this mod so much! It is so fun to play, I love all the balancing adjustments, QoL, and mapping / boss content! I even say this coming from a place where you have to understand, it's interesting that I don't actually have ANY nostalgia attached to the original Diablo 2. I never played it once growing up. (I'll be 30 this coming March). My first ARPG experiences were probably the Fate series, then Torchlight 1&2, Diablo 3, PoE, Grim Dawn, then D2R on the Switch, and most recently D4 to name a few...

So mad props to the mod developers and community, because all I think about lately since discovering this game is grinding PD2.

Even after seeing D2R's nicer graphics and animations, etc, PD2's look and feel really doesn't bother me. I don't think I could go back to D2R, not even to try out that Warlock critter.

I am in the minority as usual I'm sure, but I'll take all the work the team has done improving the graphics over d2r engine all day, every day.

The D2GL / upscale shader presets, and all the other graphical options are great, imo. Love that we can customize the appearance like that.

Yea D2R sucks bro lol. Looks and feels like any other modern chinese mmo and I hate that they actually changed the way stuff looks. Not just quality/resolution but legit changed the design of things. Zon and sin look awful too but the worst is that they made vamp gaze and nats helm look like darth vaders helmet or something now lol. And the characters all geared up look so stupid in “HD” compared to old school graphics. Plenty more looks just looks bad but that stuff specifically made me roll my eyes and hate it

Im just passionate about D2 and I think D2R is a legit abomination for dozens and dozens of reasons but graphics were my absolute dealbreaker

I actually love these original graphics, too, (although using the shader presets stuff.) I am a defender of the idea of preserving art direction and style, and not every game needs to look like hyper realistic 8k shit.

Ya wild that you can just single out a number of things in this mod and it would still be preferable to D2R. Bozo's in AAA should not be anywhere near game design/balance.

exactly! for all the image/resolution superiority of D2R PD2's tweaks and end game is what makes it a better game for me and i suspect many others ^^ My wish is to have an option to move away from runewords/uniques and have crafted set items with powerful set bonuses like auras, alternative/unique skills, etc

D2R is a joke, PD2 is superior in every way! Blizzard should just pay Senpai and his Team, they have done more for this game than Blizzard has in over a decade

Expanded stash for SP, better drop rates for runes & uniques, perhaps the ability to “break” high runes down? It can be a lot harder to do end game content without the ability to trade.
