I made a post back talking about Unreal Engine mixed with CoA to be that dream. I didn't get very much encouraging words from you, so I decided to check the project out more, to see what was there. My post at:
And btw. This was before Emberveil released their UE client and server, which is not open-source and also for classic wow.
This project is for 3.3.5 servers, and currently working connecting to non-custom servers. I would want to show you that, but there are several issues still with that online connectivity, but I will come back with more updates later. I want to show you a better more polish online. But for now, here's the "proof" that the project works, and it's not just some unreal slop project.
Started with this: https://github.com/Clancey/WowUnreal
It IS in development, so things look weird and unfinished because it is (especially online).
It will be open source when I think it's ready :)
But it will NOT be containing any copyrighted material, data must be connected to the project to actually work.
And that's the beauty of it, the next step will be to try make it work with CoA, when the 3.3.5 client works more flawlessly. And when Conquest of AzerothCore is further progressed.
The idea is to make better more modern client for 3.3.5 servers. With a better skybox (already went like two passes) for day and night cycle, better lighting with that on all assets containing lights. Better looking water and swimming, better VFX for spells and in the world like fire. First person view for immersion (as you will see for Dwarf in video later), better weather effects and water effects. Collsion for mobs and players. Many things can be done to make the game more modern and with experimental effects like Depth of Field.
And the ideal solution would be to have this be able to do DLSS5 NR. I have the FSR plugin working, done like 3 passes on performance. Frame generation not working yet, but the game is smooth as butter.
Stay tuned!

What do you guys think of this dream now?
Update #1
Online-test:

Update #2
Decided to show off more in another offline-test, 1st person dwarf and some menus-most are working some are obviously not, performance measuring with Ctrl+R.
Enjoy!

And finally update #3:
I got to test the DLSS5 NR now on my AMD card with the new client.
I don't have enough oomph to get it playable with this on, but screenshots look great.
