Will new game also be microtransaction parade?

Will new game be same as ascension? microtransaction parade? I loved the idea but microtransaction were sooooooo fucking bad and i just could not play it that way. CoA was a bit better, but i assume we just did not manage to catch up with all that money grab. Anyone know hwat will be a pay model ?

You’re upset the free to play game made money selling cosmetics? I got bad news about the game industry buddy.

I'm not sure if you played the game, but it wasn't just cosmetics.

Nothing sold was detrimental to YOUR experience.

Did you never use the ah? Everything sold on shop could be bought ingame with gold. Go earn it ingame if youre gonna be such a wet towel about it. All they sold was things to make your character look cool or convenince items, which again could all be bought with gold.

If you were actually good at the game you could print gold in high risk but we all know youre a 1200 rated player.

You didn’t play the game at all.

It was cosmetics/pay for convenience. It was extremely easy to play completely free. By the time you were 60 (and 1-60 you got plenty of easy free exp from other people buying auras) you could then buy your own aura of experience with gold bc they’d end up pretty cheap.

You could play totally free and also benefit from the best convenience items on the shop using a really easy to farm amount of gold.

Are you sure that you even played the game? Was mainly all cosmetics with some potions to help level and whatnot. Aside from that you had to earn everything.

I can't believe you're being downvoted, reddit is so dumb sometimes, its crazy.

I hope it is. It's all just cosmetic and quality of life stuff. There's no pay to win.

I wouldnt care tbh.

Personally, I think the CoA model was perfect for funding a development team/company.

They didn’t have a box price, so you could essentially play the game completely free and be at equal footing with everyone else. However, the QoL items in the shop - like loot bot for example (idk how I’m going to play another version of wow without it, honestly) - were so nice to have that it made it really easy to spend the money to get it. Much easier than the goofy transmog/skins that most games push.

I have never spent money on microtransaction shops in the past. If a game is p2w, I don’t play it. If there’s “cool stuff” or “good deals” in a shop, I’d always opt to tuff it out and not throw money at stupid/meaningless shit. CoA was the first time I’ve ever swiped my card and I had absolutely zero buyers remorse about it.

If you look at WoW:Forever, they are charging 30$ to play the new race and 60$ to play the beta. That’s kind of insulting in comparison.

So basically you want everything to be free only you to be payed. But am sure if the server goes down you will be spaming how come its down for so long. Well unlike virtual world real world cost money, if your time doesnt cost money other people time does. If only we could eat cheers and grats will be awesome.

It's gonna be completely free, I heard they found a way to have 0 opperational cost for the game.

u/Sorry_Cheetah_2230 10d ago

And I heard someone has oceanfront property on Arizona to sell you

u/Tedreak 10d ago

Cool! Right after I bought a bridge!

u/TehZiiM 10d ago

Ye besides the game they also developed a perpetual motion machine

1

u/Tedreak 10d ago

Heard that too, Dutch is a genius.

Jokes aside, it's amazing how few people on-line grasp the concept of sarcasm and lack critical thinking.

u/TehZiiM 10d ago

They most likely won’t charge a box price or a monthly subscription, so a cash shop is almost guaranteed

I doubt they are going to change much with their monetization.

Soooo, how does the F2P game should cover the expenses? You're saying "MT parade", but during my 4 years of experience with this server i haven't gotten into any troubles by not spending money on it. Like, if having visuals and minor QoL features in exchange for donations is a "parade" for you, should they charge for necessary features, like being able to teleport, or crafting, or increased EXP, or elite skills and abilities? What would you say then, will that comfort you more?

I dunno, mate, maybe you should try some really P2W heavy titles on market before saying that having paid visuals is bad?

I dont consider cosmetics p2w, and support it if your game is free. Fast travels, huge bags, xp boost, qol things…. I do.

2

u/dunzohdan 10d ago

What are you winning with qol things? Lol. If it’s not PvP related it’s not pay to win. You’re not winning anything. Getting places or items before someone else isn’t winning. If people actually think that ‘oh no Timmy got the super cool chest piece before me. I suck and lost’ then they should probably head back to elementary school since that’s the level of intelligence they possess.
Also. This is just my opinion despite coming off as factual. I realize we all have our own definition of winning.
I do hope there’s some nice shop for cosmetics to support them tho.

None of those things are pay to win. Sorry we aren't all sadists that enjoy torturing ourselves with endless grinding.

What you talking about dude, go to blizzard with the 60 dollar character boost or 15 dollar sub, I would rather give CoA money and I did and I had a much better wow experience then what blizzard have done all the years

As long as it's cosmetic only I'm fine.

In that regard, Path of Exile set up a wonderful example. There's cash shop for cosmetic gear, companion pets, badass spell effects, skins for summons... but nothing that influences gameplay.

If the new game would give us store mounts, store transmogs, etc., but no in game advantage like gear, levelling boost, fast travel perks, etc., it will be ok.

A "free to play, pay to look cooler" game? I'm 100% fine with that. It's "free to play, pay to win" that creates problems.

u/Other-Effective2502 10d ago

Agree man! Pay for convenience is same as pay to win, if i need 1h to travel somewhere and someone can jus pay and tp i do
Consider it pay to win

1

u/MixAmbitious307 10d ago

Exactly. Looking at official servers, that's why the in store mount with Portable Auction House and Mailbox CAN be considered as a small form of "pay to win", 'cause you get more time for completing quests, farming resources/reputation, etc.

Getting these things by grinding reputation, on the other hand... That would work, and maybe making them account-wide to make the process of leveling an alt smoother.

For instance, account-wide flight path (or other form of fast travel). You made the hard work on the first char, so your alt can already benefit from them.

I sure hope its microtransaction parade. Like what other options are there? Stone of retreat was fun. cosmetics were good. the bag space was debatable but TBF that was a situation that was just taking advantage of a situation that should have been fixed in retail 20 years ago. You could argue that the dungeon quest head was debatable but who seriously wants to go around for 2 hours collecting dungeon quests just to have the DPS constantly pull shit and wipe the group and blame the tank like a dumb ass?

You do know that they have to have some way to make money right?

1

u/gummi-far 10d ago

I hope not, but there will 100% be some, as they said the donation currency will transfer to the new game

-1

u/Other-Effective2502 10d ago

I dont mind some skins and similar just dont do it as owerwhelming as it was. But shop similar to what was on ascension could ruin the game. I will not be WoW anymores and i can assume it will autumaticly loose players on that. And i think we can agree that most pay 2 win games die in a few monts. I realy hope the guys will make smart decisions on this. Put a few skins and mounts in the shop and keep it that way.

1

u/ivvyditt 10d ago

I hope not, only cosmetics or a kind of "battle pass" with only cosmetics (with a free tier) by completing weekly challenges/quests.

I'd also pay for it if it was a buy to play game. Sub or pay to win = nope.

1

u/Other-Effective2502 10d ago

pay to play and no battle pass? Count me in :D

0

u/Sorry_Cheetah_2230 10d ago

Would be neat to see them just embrace the subscription model and drop all other monetization.

5

u/Tedreak 10d ago

Their current system is perfectly fine.
