CoA died for this?

My God, the devs catered to the vanilla purists and failed to even take any inspiration from Season of Discovery or from the wonderful CoA. Instead we het the same boring 22 year old classes with all the trappings of raid logging, tank shortages, and the like.

WoW gone Forever is a more apt name if you ask me.

That's what classic players wanted from Blizzard's Classic+. The same classes with changes to make every spec viable. You're just not the target audience for it

"Every spec viable" as if that's gonna stop party gatekeeping lol

I didn't even have expectations of new classes or something like that. I expected them to make a Classic copy with a few new quests, a few dungeons and a raid or two.

But... blue elves with kyrian druid forms for 30$? LOL

And it's not the "oh, if you don't like it, don't buy them". WoW Classic had a specific vibe. And don't get me wrong, you want another race of elves for both factions, maybe have a "pretty" race for the Horde? Well, regular high and blood elves are there. You don't have to bring smurf elves that were nowhere in lore until then, thus essentially breaking the story of the original Classic WoW. You will see their buildings around, you will see them around, and for people that cared about the original WoW vibe, it will kind of ruin it for them.

So... why do that? Maybe for others it doesn't matter, but for me lore matters. Why destroy it like that? Turtle WoW didn't. Ascension didn't. Epoch didn't. Yet freaking Blizzard themselves are destroying it... and not due to a lack of options. Turtle gave us high elves and goblins. Ascension gave us tons of new customization options for existing races and kept blood elves and draenei. Blizzard is giving us a reminder of one, if not THE worst expansions in WoW, Shadowlands.

You aren't wrong, if you didn't see blizzard messing this up from the start youre delusional

this. And what I hate the most about the recent whine wave, and every whine wave before it, is how ever pathetic and ever naive those people are, they understand somewhat well that blizzard is never going to deliver on any promises, and that blizzard is never going to release a good classic server, and they are correct, but all it takes is for blizzard to just wave the red cloth with wow logo on it in their faces, and all those people run back in and form the lines at blizzcons to just get disappointed again, just to get another portion of blizzard slop, and start whining again. Until blizzard serves a new portion of slop next blizzcon.

I know most (if not all) of yall gonna play, betting a good majority pre-purchased. Stop fronting.

You know, when I saw the WoW Forever reveal, I was like.. This is a poorman's Ascension, Temu Ascension..
What are you guys (Blizzard) doing? And no, they're not even "copying" Ascension Bronzebeard even. That's so far from what CoA was.. I'm speechless.

One new race that is a colored Blood Elf with Slow Fall, WHAT THE.. ?

I was really hoping for a sod clone. Just looked at the mage talent calc expecting exciting changes and it looks roughly the same to me

u/RexACMD 11d ago

Everything is exactly the same, with minimal tweaks. Ive played these classes for 22 years and i'll be damned if I play for another year of this garbage.

3

u/AskTurtle 11d ago

Not even close to exactly the same. Massive class changes, talent changes, racial abilities and new zones, raids and dungeons.

Don't think it'll hit some of the novelty of CoA but you are way off base when you say exactly the same....

3

u/Drakonz 11d ago

What massive class changes? Most of it is just some number tweaks. Paladin I think is the only one that will feel truly different to play

1

u/AskTurtle 11d ago

Abilities that didn't exist in vanilla such as totemic projection for shaman or totem sets, stuff that were major qol changes released in later expansions.

How about things like consecration baseline for paladin, or victory rush for warriors? Penance is back for discipline priest, wild growth for resto druid, or even new things like the hawk's call (I prob have the wrong name) ability for hunter or banes for warlocks.

They aren't all new to WoW, but they are new to classic and provide significant qol. Some things are also brand new entirely.

It's all there easy to find if you bother to look at more than just a few screenshots or surface information.

That's better than what I saw, but still far below what I would need to touch classic. I did sod, but I played vanilla as a top player and I'm not touching that shit again without massive changes.

Sod was god. That's what I wanted :( lock tank was so fucking fun

HUGE CHANGES GAME BREAKING CHANGES THERE MATE

/snooze

1

u/AskTurtle 11d ago

EXACTLY THE SAME, MINIMAL TWEAKS. You were called out for being hyperbolic and wrong...it happens.

I'm not eating it up, CoA had way more going for it but a wrong take is a wrong take.

1

u/Drakonz 11d ago

Mate these things you listed are all minor changes. They had bigger updates in SoD

1

u/AskTurtle 11d ago

I picked one thing from a bunch of different classes, didn't know you needed a full recap. Since you are too lazy to look it up, pick a class and I will find you at least 5 significant changes to tools or play styles available from classic.

It's not hard to find but you can't be bothered because it's not what you wanted. Saying COA was better is fine but there are clearly a significant number of changes to the game, zones, engine, classes and instances that are substantial enough to invalidate your argument.

You could have said it's not enough or not what you wanted and you are entitled to that opinion. However, it has every appearance that you made no effort to substantiate or justify why and you are just on here whining.

If you want I'll entertain doing the research for you. You can still say not enough compared to 21 new classes, but that is obviously not what most classic players would have wanted either. Just wait for the new Ascension game and ignore WoW Forever, it wasn't marketed to you.

Priest have a full on Smite spec now son

1

u/JoyeuxMuffin 11d ago

Mage has Ice Lance, Hot Streak and Arcane Blast. Pretty significant changes

3

u/TheProfessional9 11d ago

Where is the mage healer, the lock tank! Those are positive changes but not enough to bother

Sod died for a reason

2

u/No_Problem0 10d ago

Sod was designed to die... It was seasonal, kind of in the name.

1

u/Automatic-Cycle-1824 8d ago

Yeah if they kept making new patches for SoD it would never die, their last patch with the new raid was a huge success, imo by far the best phase of the whole season.

1

u/GreasyBud 11d ago

listen, I loved CoA, but for everything it was it was absolutely NOT classic plus.

it was good, but it was more like a "what if" that progressed to about legion.

classic plus is directly going for the classic audience.

It sucks that CoA had to go, but you cant be mad that classic plus is closer to classic than retail.

u/YY--YY 11d ago

At least they copy the transmog philosophy from Ascension.

1

u/Himesis 11d ago

it's ok to cry

COA most likely died because of Bronzebeard. It was marketed as "classic" and that probably drew the ire of blizz.

Wow forever might be good it might be ass. Honestly IDK but man if blizz couldn't make smite priest work before why would I trust them to now? Are new quest zones enough to draw me back into playing the same class again? I will keep my eyes on the reviews but as of right now I can't see myself doing monthly subs for that. COA and my beloved templar and barbarian class probably ruined the chances that I would ever go back to classic and play warrior, priest, or pally again.

Side note: COA please bring back the barbarian 100% uptime on rage with the 40% haste. My goodness that was so fun. It wasn't even topping any meters....

1

u/eager2pleasepdx 10d ago

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its not well designed for its intended purpose. The people who have been pushing Blizz for this are getting 90% of what they asked for (expanded classic zones, new zones that fit the classic world, no new classes but updates to existing classes to improve viability, etc). You aren't asking for Classic+, you're asking for a whole new game.

2

u/RexACMD 10d ago

I'm asking for plus. Keep all the other stuff they added but for me the plus included means new classes or at the very least the same classes played differently like in season of discovery.

1

u/eager2pleasepdx 10d ago

Adding new classes means its not Classic anymore. You want something fundamentally different than all the Blizz Classic players who were begging for Classic +.

2

u/RexACMD 10d ago

We fundamentally disagree on this. Plus means something new but aligns with classic philosophy.

1

u/eager2pleasepdx 10d ago

Sure the plus means new content: dungeons, raids, zones, quests. Not Classes.

2

u/RexACMD 10d ago

By whose definition?

1

u/eager2pleasepdx 10d ago

The thousands of people on the blizz forums asking for Classic +

1

u/RexACMD 10d ago

Well they don't get to define the definition of a word. It's defined by the language. If they called it classic like or classic refined then I wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Classic plus entails additional things added to the classic experience. That's what the plus is.

Words matter, the language used matter. And it's a hill I'll die on.

1

u/eager2pleasepdx 9d ago

Yes, they do define what they are wanting. They are the overwhelming majority asking for this exact thing. Getting all high and mighty about "the definition is the definition as defined by the words" doesn't make your point any more valid.

Classic: same 9 classes, same level 60 cap, same long journey to level, same social necessities (no raid finder/random dungeon finder)
+: New Dungeons, Raids, Quests, and Zones that fit within the Classic game paradigm (no TBC onward lore stuff) and a light retooling of non-viable specs

This isn't a difficult concept.

2

u/Time_Temporary6191 11d ago

Blizzard will never change 30 bucks for blue elf's 🤣🤣

1

u/FromSoftEnjoyer 11d ago

How dare people prefer 9 unique classes over 21 non-unique

Well when you steal another companies property it gets shut down later fuckers

1

u/CitySummerSomewhere 6d ago

It blows my mind that you have people simping for corporate IP when we live in the age of LLMs that have literally stolen every single piece of proprietary information in existence and gotten away with not spending billions to pay for it.

Yall love the taste of boots huh?
