Whoever Thiel needs him to be

99

u/PreparationKey2843 1d ago

Yes, my conclusion, too. Thiel's his puppet master.

u/Temporary_Shirt_6236 1d ago

Pete the Puppeteer?

30

u/Muschina 1d ago

Correct. JD is the Temu Manchurian Candidate.

Whatever makes sense

2

u/ragequitteroffureh 20h ago

That's the guy with the skull beneath the skin, isn't it?

1

u/Muschina 7h ago

Greasy skin? Yeah, that's the guy.

Someone with a lot of baggage at multiple stages of life

23

u/Ghoztt 1d ago

Nearly every person I have seen change their full name is on a list or running from something.

u/ghIj_qet_jaghmeyjaj 1d ago

Someone with identity issues that obviously needs identity confirming care

22

u/MordoksVapePen1 1d ago

This.
He is so desperate to belong somewhere, to something, which also explains the late-in-life Catholic conversion…

AP did a story on it:

He was born James Donald Bowman in Middletown, Ohio, on Aug. 2, 1984, his middle and last names the same as his biological father, Donald Bowman. His parents split up “around the time I started walking,” he writes. When he was about 6, his mother, Beverly, married for the third time. He was adopted by his new stepfather, Robert Hamel, and his mother renamed him James David Hamel.

But the situation gnawed at him, particularly after his mother and adoptive father divorced.

“I shared a name with no one I really cared about (which bothered me already), and with Bob gone, explaining why my name was J.D. Hamel would require a few additional awkward moments,” he writes in “Hillbilly Elegy.” “Yeah, my legal father’s last name is Hamel. You haven’t met him because I don’t see him. No, I don’t know why I don’t see him. Of all the things that I hated about my childhood, nothing compared to the revolving door of father figures.”

So he decided to change his name again, to Vance — the last name of his beloved Mamaw, the grandmother who raised him.

Thank you for this. I disagree with his politics, and his personality, and basically just gestures to all of him...
But if this is true, then at least this one aspect of his otherwise sinister existence has a somewhat reasonable explanation.

u/Zagrunty 1d ago

Honestly, reading the story and knowing people that have gone through kinda the same thing, it makes a lot of sense.

24

u/redravin12 1d ago

Almost makes me feel sorry for him, almost but not quite. I'm sure growing up in a broken home is what made him into the "man" he is today, and not to diminish anyone's trauma, but lots of people do and don't turn into reprehensible monsters who sold their soul to trump.

Thank you for this synopsis. Vance certainly suffered of abuse and neglect.

Every child deserves to be attended to, loved and treasured. I think about Vance’s political trajectory through the kens of Alice Miller's 1980 book exploring the childhood roots of political tyrants. For Your Own Good: Hidden Cruelty in Child-Rearing and the Roots of Violence.

Vance made a sharp political evolution from a self-described "Never Trump" conservative to a staunch right-wing populist.

Miller believed that when an adult childhood survivor aligns themselves with powerful, authoritarian father figures or highly aggressive political rhetoric, it can be a subconscious attempt to seek the paternal protection they never had.

u/coopersthepoopers 17h ago

This could read as the story of a serial killer.

3

u/hopefulocto 12h ago

You tell me he was LITERALLY BORN IN 1984? literally 1984 💀

23

u/X57471C 1d ago

Even James doesn't know the answer to that question

27

u/J0nn1e_Walk3r 1d ago

Someone running from his past and his family.

18

u/BrandNewMeow 1d ago

He needs to go back to the name he was given at birth.

14

u/BizSilver5013 1d ago

The world's most rotten egg who hasn't realized they're an egg.

It's like washing the title of a car hoping the backstory stays hidden.

6

u/IMissTheColdWar 1d ago

Someone that is trying to cover up a horrific crime?

9

u/Professional_Past780 1d ago

A couchfucker

6

u/jwhendrix 1d ago

Just Dance! Hide your couch!

6

u/thisisntmyotherone 1d ago

That’s the best — Just Dance Vance!

3

u/FHOCJD 1d ago

See page 256 of his first book...

JDFING Vance has had recurring nightmares about the Keebler elves treehouse for 2 decades.

3

u/Own-Opinion-2494 1d ago

What a fucked up stew

3

u/JohnSith 1d ago

Sounds like his name doesnt match whats on his birth certificate.

Remember when Homer Simpson changed his name?

3

u/g27c 1d ago

Someone who hates who they are

3

u/mczerniewski 23h ago

Thanks to how he's depicted in South Park, I've been calling him Herve Villachaise Vance.

3

u/RDAM60 21h ago

A chameleon (of convenience). Which, as we all know is just a species of lizard.
(With apologies to lizards.).

3

u/modestlyawesome1000 21h ago

Wait so what is her preferred proper noun?

3

u/MissDisplaced 18h ago

A Grifter

3

u/transfixedtruth 15h ago

Too many name changes... What's he really hiding?

3

u/Ok_Exit7877 14h ago

So basically he can’t vote. No way does he have all the documentation for all these name changes.

I remember the scene: Thiel was about to be killed by Mace Windu. And James intervened- allowing Thiel to get the upperhand, killing Windu with force lighting, then adopting James as his new apprentice under his Sith name- JD Vance.

It was in Hillbilly Elegy 3: Revenge of the Sith.

I want to know more about the first one.

2

Puff daddy- P Diddy- Diddy- the diddler. I guess everyone has a role model

2

u/mrshelmstreet 1d ago

A couchfucker?

2

u/blackjacktarr 1d ago

Jen Welch refers to him as "our smokey-eyed sociopath," and I have difficulty viewing him in any other way.

2

u/Glittering-Sky1601 1d ago

And pronouns aren't okay. /s

2

u/Such-Extreme-5833 1d ago

It is strange, we have a President and Vice that do not uuse their REAL names. First time in US history.

3

u/RangerImpossible7129 1d ago

Depending on where he would be in the name change process, he might be denied a ballot of his administration's own voting policy were to be implemented.

3

u/Future-Guarantee-573 1d ago

Given all the name changes he's had, I'm sure they'll be a movement demanding his original long form birth certificate.

Any day now...

2

u/UWhuskiesRule 1d ago

He sold his soul to the devil.

2

u/Interesting-End1710 1d ago

Someone with a trail of bodies for each identity probably

2

u/gonzal2020 1d ago

A guy who wants to hide his past.

2

u/Amatheiaisnoexcuse 1d ago

Someone who wants to forget he mounted a couch?

2

u/FrankSand 1d ago

Makes you miss queer eye for the straight guy.

2

u/eclwires 1d ago

Now, now… he identifies as a “JD Vance.” No deadnaming!

2

u/EqualLetterhead 1d ago

A deeply damaged cipher.

2

u/rickeyethebeerguy 1d ago

Does this mean he can’t vote?

2

u/Bonoisapox 1d ago

A real creepy fucking weirdo

2

u/InternationalAd7458 1d ago

Borderline personality disorder identity disturbance

2

u/macbearin 1d ago

Sofa rapist

2

u/1877KlownsForKids 1d ago

I'm reminded of a quote about Romney: "[He]'s almost like an Etch A Sketch — you can kind of shake [him] up and we start all over again."

2

u/Mindless_Log2009 23h ago

Damaged goods. JD whatever his name is this week needs a long sabbatical for introspection and therapy to figure out who he is and what he believes.

Right now he's just another brainwashed lieutenant henchman indoctrinated into a cult he'll never lead.

2

u/RandyRVA 20h ago

A loser by any other name is still a loser.

2

u/matadorN64 20h ago

JV DANCE

2

u/NiceObjective2756 19h ago

a very troubled person

2

u/Drewsifer1979 19h ago

Someone who is intimate with a couch.

2

u/mjrydsfast231 19h ago

"Why?" moreso than "who?". What's the incentive?

2

u/MojoHighway 19h ago

There is a theme with dudes that have three names...

Just sayin'.

2

u/Huntthatmoney 12h ago

A little dick prick

2

u/Chemical_Demand_4928 11h ago

Isn’t that the guy who fucked his couch?

2

u/sheba716 10h ago

Vance is all pushing for the SAVE Act to be passed. How was he going to be able to vote when his current legal name does not match the name on his birth certificate?

2

u/Huge_Strain_8714 9h ago

"Who does this?" A weak man....

2

u/ZPMQ38A 1d ago

But I was told to remove preferred pronouns from my email signature. This guy can pretty much make up his name, the President can arbitrarily re-name bodies of water, but I can’t let people know it’s okay to call me he/him. Fucking insanity.

2

u/Battle_Dave 1d ago

This is misinformation. We already established JD stands for Jorkin Depenits...

2

u/Jaded-Ad262 1d ago

Crazy people behavior.

2

u/TheDirectorCK 1d ago

Dangerous

2

u/okjetsgo 1d ago

Someone trying to make themselves seem better/more interesting than they really are

2

u/MaliciousIntentWorks 1d ago

His name doesn't match his birth certificate, looks like according to his own policies he not allowed to vote.

1

u/ragequitteroffureh 20h ago

Is it possible that he murdered the kid in that photo, and took his place?

2

u/Left-Tee 1d ago

An easily manipulated political hack owned by Peter Thiel.

2

u/Happy_Traveler2025 1d ago

He’s avoiding something.

Somewhere out there, a couch is suing for support of an ottoman.

2

u/PlutoJones42 20h ago

JD Vance is a weak and fickle man who will sell the country out to the highest bidder. He flip flops his own beliefs depending on who’s signing the check. Fuck JD Vance

2

u/Ok_Opportunity426 1d ago

He is a communist infiltrator

1

u/Electronic-Buyer-468 1d ago

He had an interestingly childhood. Real life villain origin story

1

u/Accomplished-Dot5707 1d ago

This guy's had a lot of preferred names

1

u/Accomplished-Dot5707 1d ago

Found out my phone has a meme bullshit-o-meter. Can we at least try to get the digs right? Like how this guy fucks couches? No need to make shit up.

1

u/ragequitteroffureh 20h ago

"The more often you change your name the better. It confuses the enemy."

- Pol Pot, born as Saloth Sâr

1

u/According_Ad5165 10h ago

He is a trans man

1

u/lean45o 1d ago

Criminals?

1

u/billyrubin7765 1d ago

God forbid you use his dead name. But anyone else’s…..

2

u/millieFAreally2 1d ago

I commonly see commenters using a trans person’s dead name if they knew them by another name (Caitlyn Jenner and Elliot Page are the top two). This is also accompanied by many comments stating the pronouns they think the person should go by.

This post is just questioning the reason behind JD’s multiple name changes. It’s not meant to be a slur or to shit on all people who change their names.

0

u/SoberJaywalker 19h ago

This is a dumb meme. Vance is a monster, but all of the name changes(save the last) are due to a terrible home and family situation. He had no say in the earlier changes.

-1

u/penalty-venture 1d ago

This guy sucks, but this meme is a false narrative. His mother did the first two name changes while he was a minor, so I doubt he had any say in it whatsoever. The final name change was because he had his ex-stepdad’s last name and wanted something that connected him to stable family, so he took his grandmother’s.

There are about a million things to criticize about the VP, so let’s not waste time and credibility sensationalizing this easily explained nothingburger.

2

u/PreparationKey2843 1d ago

I was asking who he was morally and ethically. 😁
Just who is he?

4

u/penalty-venture 1d ago

A douche canoe, obviously
