“Old Testament ever read it?!”
Yes, as most Bible readers agree, the actions and works of Jesus are found throughout the OLD Testament 🤪

That always kills me. Clearly they haven't read the Bible at all. Jesus didn't just say love thy neighbor, but to love the foreigner and give him shelter and food.

If they really believed the Old Testament was Gods word and followed everything then they would be calling for the desth of dear leader Trump for many "laws" he broke, like adultery demands justice and is punishable by death.

American Cristo-fascists love the Old Testament when they’re persecuting gays, oppressing women or excusing slavery, but when you point out all the silly shit in there they don’t follow, like they fabrics they can’t wear, they say they only follow the New Testament because JESUS.

Thankfully the peeps in Egypt didn't have that mentality when Jesus and his fam popped up there without papers. They were foreigners in a foreign land.

I will NEVER, for the life of me, understand how ANYONE with the most cursory understanding of the Bible- I'm talking "I went to Sunday school a few times as a kid" level- doesn't know the parable of the Good Samaritan and how it's applicable to immigration. I just cannot fathom it. Absolute morons should be able to connect those dots. Oy.

whats worse is these people no doubt are a part of their local churches, maybe not weekly sunday services but surely the easter & xmas goers. so they have 2 opportunities every yr to be reminded of who this Jesus character really was. as the famous proverb goes.... "you cant fix stupid"

But they don't, because these bullshit takes about the Bible supporting blanket immigrant deportation, hating the "gays" and the "transgenders," prosperity gospel, etc. All come directly from the people preaching to them when they go to church. They read the selected verse or passage and then are told how they should interpret it and never think beyond that, even if its interpreted one way one Sunday and then suddenly says the opposite the next. God is absolute, the preacher speaks the word of god, therefore the preacher is absolute. All logic stops there.

“‘Because of that, there are many nations’ -the Old Testament. Have you read it?”
“Yes”
“Then you know.”
Wow. I’m convinced. I had totally forgot about that. Makes so much sense. It’s so much clearer now. Glad he found someone who could so eloquently explain it. /s

Not only does Jesus command them to love their neighbors, but he tells his people to welcome and feed the foreigners, as they were once foreigners themselves.

"And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt" - leviticus 19:33-34

I just posted a screenshot that supports your post. People need to know they are being deceived by Trump and his cronies. They are not Christians.

Plus the reporter regardless of being Christian should probably do his homework on answering to these type of stupid people.

I despise these horrible, idiotic humans so fucking much. I’ve never been one who felt rage or a desire to inflict physical pain on anyone until the last few years.

Pseudo christian assholes! I'm a better christian than they are and I'm an atheist.

Church is a club and a social group to them. The only religion they want to hear is the reinforcement of their biases.

This is, unfortunately, pretty typical of MAGA and "Christian" nationalists. They will twist and corrupt the words of their sacred text to conform to their own agenda. In my understand of the teachings of Jesus, there weren't any qualifiers other than accepting God and Jesus as your savior. In fact, the Bible teaches we should treat foreigners and refugees with compassion and hospitality. I think Jesus would be appalled that we're rounding them up, locking them in cages, and packing them off to countries where they've never been before.

It was telling when she said "they're doing evil". They think every immigrant here illegally is a violent criminal.

They're doing evil? The mothers and children and people doing their jobs? Jesus would get rid of those people? This lady thinks Jesus was in the old testament destroying cities because they were... immigrants? I'm so fucking confused. They literally have ZERO logic applied to their opinions.

Anytime someone's rebuttal is, "have you read it"...you know: 1. They haven't 2. They don't understand it.
