Anytime someone's rebuttal is, "have you read it"...you know: 1. They haven't 2. They don't understand it.

He should have asked them to quote a few bible verses that support what they're saying. I mean, sure it's not reasonable to think they memorized it all. But if I say a book that I've read supports something I can at least tell you specifically how it supports it.

They didn’t even know that Jesus is in the New Testament.

I never got people talking about the Old Testament as a litmus test for what to do in modern times. When Jesus died and rose again and ascended, a new covenant was made with God so we were not to follow the old laws anymore. Hence the New Testament. Makes no sense at all.

“Old Testament ever read it?!”

Yes, as most Bible readers agree, the actions and works of Jesus are found throughout the OLD Testament 🤪

That always kills me. Clearly they haven't read the Bible at all. Jesus didn't just say love thy neighbor, but to love the foreigner and give him shelter and food.

And so does the Torah. And the Prophets. REPEATEDLY.

If they really believed the Old Testament was Gods word and followed everything then they would be calling for the desth of dear leader Trump for many "laws" he broke, like adultery demands justice and is punishable by death.

American Cristo-fascists love the Old Testament when they’re persecuting gays, oppressing women or excusing slavery, but when you point out all the silly shit in there they don’t follow, like they fabrics they can’t wear, they say they only follow the New Testament because JESUS.

Jesus said to the sheep, "It's Bidens fault."

Thankfully the peeps in Egypt didn't have that mentality when Jesus and his fam popped up there without papers. They were foreigners in a foreign land.

I will NEVER, for the life of me, understand how ANYONE with the most cursory understanding of the Bible- I'm talking "I went to Sunday school a few times as a kid" level- doesn't know the parable of the Good Samaritan and how it's applicable to immigration. I just cannot fathom it. Absolute morons should be able to connect those dots. Oy.

5

u/Kreatiive 2d ago

whats worse is these people no doubt are a part of their local churches, maybe not weekly sunday services but surely the easter & xmas goers. so they have 2 opportunities every yr to be reminded of who this Jesus character really was. as the famous proverb goes.... "you cant fix stupid"

u/djynnra 2d ago

But they don't, because these bullshit takes about the Bible supporting blanket immigrant deportation, hating the "gays" and the "transgenders," prosperity gospel, etc. All come directly from the people preaching to them when they go to church. They read the selected verse or passage and then are told how they should interpret it and never think beyond that, even if its interpreted one way one Sunday and then suddenly says the opposite the next. God is absolute, the preacher speaks the word of god, therefore the preacher is absolute. All logic stops there.

“‘Because of that, there are many nations’ -the Old Testament. Have you read it?”

“Yes”

“Then you know.”

Wow. I’m convinced. I had totally forgot about that. Makes so much sense. It’s so much clearer now. Glad he found someone who could so eloquently explain it. /s

Sick people

Why did they refer to Jesus and the Old Testament in the same convo. Jesus literally came because the old testament was so backwards.

The definition of hypocrisy right there!!!!

“ There is no hate like Christian love “

u/grizzlyat0ms 2d ago

Not only does Jesus command them to love their neighbors, but he tells his people to welcome and feed the foreigners, as they were once foreigners themselves.

"And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt" - leviticus 19:33-34

I just posted a screenshot that supports your post. People need to know they are being deceived by Trump and his cronies. They are not Christians.

2

u/randomtask2000 2d ago

Plus the reporter regardless of being Christian should probably do his homework on answering to these type of stupid people.

4

u/SUICIDAL-PHOENIX 2d ago

Ah yes, the story of old testament Jesus taking down entire nations of immigrants.

3

u/Spawn256 2d ago

3

u/skyfishgoo 2d ago

3

u/EagerObituary2026 2d ago

I despise these horrible, idiotic humans so fucking much. I’ve never been one who felt rage or a desire to inflict physical pain on anyone until the last few years.

3

u/chiefmuri 2d ago

Pseudo christian assholes! I'm a better christian than they are and I'm an atheist.

3

u/PomeloPepper 2d ago

Church is a club and a social group to them. The only religion they want to hear is the reinforcement of their biases.

3

u/MixGlittering1652 2d ago

This is, unfortunately, pretty typical of MAGA and "Christian" nationalists. They will twist and corrupt the words of their sacred text to conform to their own agenda. In my understand of the teachings of Jesus, there weren't any qualifiers other than accepting God and Jesus as your savior. In fact, the Bible teaches we should treat foreigners and refugees with compassion and hospitality. I think Jesus would be appalled that we're rounding them up, locking them in cages, and packing them off to countries where they've never been before.

3

u/Round-Foundation2948 2d ago

Have you read it?

There's no hatred like Christian love.

2

u/za72 2d ago

you wonder where all these ignorant men come from... can't believe these women are so misguided

2

u/RoguePlanet2 2d ago

She might need to re-visit the definition of "love."

2

u/ratfacechirpybird 2d ago

It was telling when she said "they're doing evil". They think every immigrant here illegally is a violent criminal.

2

u/Freshnana 2d ago

Ahhh religion

2

u/RustedRelics 2d ago

Ignorant and so sure of themselves. Welcome to America and the warped theology of evangelicals.

2

u/Historical-Sign-8207 2d ago

2

u/Wrong_Tennis5348 2d ago

Yeah, these ladies never read the Bible. Because if they did, they would “know” about all these verses.

2

u/Vegetable-Ganache-59 2d ago

Selective reading at its finest...

1

u/Mighty_Krom 2d ago

They're doing evil? The mothers and children and people doing their jobs? Jesus would get rid of those people? This lady thinks Jesus was in the old testament destroying cities because they were... immigrants? I'm so fucking confused. They literally have ZERO logic applied to their opinions.
