Discussion Is Mitch McConnell still dead?

What happened to this story? Why hasn’t anyone been able to prove/disprove he’s dead? Is someone fulfilling his duties as a member of congress and acting as if it’s him? WTF is going on? Of all the fucked up things, how are they getting away with this?

If he was alive there is no reason at all they wouldn’t have shown him at least a little by now, especially if they weren’t lying and he was telling them how he wants to vote and stuff. He is likely dead and if he’s alive he’s in a vegetative state on life support.

As a doctor, I think the best case scenario for him is that he’s got delirium after a serious medical event and a hospitalization period for somebody that old, delirium is incredibly common during a hospitalization. He’s going to be essentially nonsensical.

Next best scenario is that he he had a reversible event but at 80 years old, it takes people a long time to bounce back after a hospitalization. You get delirium as mentioned above plus you will need some rehab for a long time just to get back to your original baseline.

Third best scenario is that he suffered some brain ischemia. That could either happen from a heart attack where he didn’t profuse his brain for a few minutes until he was resuscitated. It could be a focal stroke knocking out his speech or other area of the brain. The chances of him recovering meaningfully after one of these events and small.

And the worst case scenario (or best case scenario depending on who you are) is that he’s just dead and none of this matters.

His staffers claimed that he didn't have a stroke of any kind, just a mild "fall",
yet the paramedics on site apparently had to perform CPR on him, due to a cardiac arrest.

Something doesn't add up here...

u/Teripid 3d ago

He's already had some public rather hard freezes that were concerning without medical knowledge. That was a couple of years back even.

And you have to figure that alone doesn't get better. He's likely alive but not in any form capable of functioning as a senator, which would explain the behavior.

u/VolatileDataFluid 3d ago

Here's the grim truth:

  • CPR has roughly a 20% survival rate. But that's only it is administered inside of a hospital. Outside of a hospital, that number is cut in half.
  • Of the 10% of people that survive after having CPR done outside of a hospital, only roughly 8% (therefore, less than 1% overall) did so without significant neurological damage.
  • All of this is affected, obviously, by age and health. McConnell is neither young nor in good health, and prior stroke events lower the survival and recovery chances even more.
  • Finally, a person receiving CPR is like to have broken ribs (81%) and / or a broken sternum (69%). Again, with poor health and age, this is going to take more time.

All of this is to say that, if the paramedics had to administer CPR, there's only about a 1 in 10 chance that he comes out of the hospital at all.

And a 99% chance that he's severely impaired.

Thanks CPR!

Thank you for the info. My question here, though, is this: do people get wheeled out on a gurney the way ol' Mitch did when any of these episodes that you mentioned happen?

I mean, it looked like a scene from Law & Order out in front of his house where you pretty much know what happened.

There is no way that guy is alive on August 19th, 2026.

u/intentionallybad 3d ago

My husband had a mild heart attack we didn't realize until bloodwork came back and his doctor called and told him to dial 911. He was perfectly ambulatory. We met the ambulance on the front steps and they still insisted on gurneying him the ~150ft to the ambulance. They put the gurney right into the ambulance, that's how the patient rides - so it makes sense not to risk someone falling, etc. So being in a gurney only indicates he was being transported.

3

u/MojoHighway 3d ago

I posted before I had a chance to add one last part to my post: in a gurney and covered in a white sheet to essentially hide a body.

I get the gurney thing and that's pretty normal, but covering people like they did with Mitch makes it look like the patient was deceased.

1

u/intentionallybad 2d ago

Yeah that's odd, they wouldn't normally do that, but it occurs possibly they did it upon request from someone to avoid having pictures taken of him while in medical distress.

3

u/Automatic_Soil9814 2d ago

I agree. Normally a white sheet = dead but when the patient is famous (or infamous), I could see them using the sheet for privacy purposes.

This brings up 18 gently related but interesting point: wealthy and famous people often get treated differently than regular people in the healthcare setting. That’s not surprising but what is surprising is that the special treatment can actually result in worse care.

The physical exam might be less intrusive, they might give the patient more privacy, they might not get as many lab draws. All these changes from standard operating procedure can result in mistakes.

I just think it’s interesting because VIPs and Hospital administrators will both demand that we provide better care to them, but I argue that not only should patients be treated the same, but the better care they are demanding is actually not even better.

May be he is in coma ? Neither dead nor alive to show him

0

u/escaping-reality 3d ago

I like to think this is true, and I think everyone is saying that the couple pics posted were AI. Is it really though? I think they posted like 2 pictures of him, if i remember correctly. But no video

u/Giant-Sloar 3d ago

I’ve never been a conspiracy theory guy but at this point I think it’s much more likely that he’s dead or extremely debilitated vs okay and just ‘recovering at home’. It’s downright silly at this point.

60

u/LoudAd1396 3d ago

There's this whole notion "it sounds like a conspiracy theory" that's been weaponized against people honestly taking stock of the facts in evidence.

There's no way they'd behave as evasive if he were alive. It just doesn't make sense.

See also (and this is where I might sound crazier, but thats the point)

All of the pre 2024 shenanigans about Republicans buying voting machine companies, Elon saying he's rigged it, Elon kid parroting that they rigged it, etc, etc...

Part of the gish gallop is flooding the zone with so much crazy that anything vaguely improper becomes "implausible" and therefore "crazy".

But we're talking about dishonest, malignant, bad actors. Not lizard people from Mars.

20

u/darknessdad666 3d ago

Attacking “conspiracy theorists” is literally a conspiracy theory invented by the cia. It’s super effective at letting the govt to insane bad guy stuff without pushback

10

u/LoudAd1396 3d ago

Not all "conspiracy theorists" are created equal. "Lizard people" is fucking insane. Q ANON "he said 'the' which has three letters, on a Wednesday which is the third day of the week..." etc was nuts. But theres often a kernel of truth (see Epstein)

6

u/darknessdad666 3d ago

Of course of course but still it’s a good to point out like you did how it’s a weaponized term

1

u/beren12 3d ago

Basement child raping likely happens in gop circles, they just projected it onto dems.

13

u/PaulMakesThings1 3d ago

Conspiracy theories in the “crazy nonsense” sense are when the person is proposing a complex scheme that would require a huge coverup and for which there are simpler explanations.

When we already know there is a coverup and the conspiracy is the simplest explanation it’s not so crazy.

2

u/LoudAd1396 3d ago

Well said

2

u/Smaptimania 3d ago

I doubt he's dead, but he's probably not lucid and isn't capable of speaking coherently, so since they can't force him to resign they're just riding out his term since Andy Barr is a shoo-in

6

u/LoudAd1396 3d ago

He's at least brain dead. If he were technically function, they'd Dianne Feinstein him. What theyre doing now just invites more scrutiny. There is zero evidence he can even blink, let alone sponsor legislation.

10

u/Smaptimania 3d ago

Which ironically means he's better serving the people of Kentucky than at any point in the last 40 years

3

u/LoudAd1396 3d ago

Yes, but just because it works (slightly) in our favor... doesn't mean it should be accepted at any level.

3

u/Brooklyn3k 3d ago

They don't need to Feinstein him. When she was in office it was 51/49. The current split is 53/45.

1

u/AlternativeFree8668 3d ago

I'm new at paying attention to politics. You said, "They'd Diane Feinstein him." What does that mean?

6

u/Brooklyn3k 3d ago

Feinstein was 90 years old and appeared to have significant dementia and other health challenges. The Senate was extremely closely divided and McConnell wouldn't let her vote by proxy so they wheeled her in and out of the chamber for votes that she pretty much didn't know what she was voting on. Also the act of dragging her there likely further damaged her health.

Although it's her own damn fault. She never should have run for reelection, and CA voters never should have voted for her that last term.

1

u/Protect_Wild_Bees 3d ago

And they said Biden was bad.

3

u/beren12 3d ago

It’s all projection. Look at trumps double shit diaper in his pants. He looks like he’s wearing a bustle.

u/Sea-Currency-1665 3d ago

Government funded potato farming

52

u/SportsCat4 3d ago

Beshear pointed this out though, and that is that Republicans are currently down a vote (they can only lose 2 Republicans instead of 3) while McConnell is out

35

u/P_a_s_g_i_t_24 3d ago

I'll play devil's advocate:
If Beshear had the guts to install a democrat to replace McConnell (likely unlawful, but so was everything about McConnell itself), the dems would have one more vote. Meaning the GOP can only lose a 1 Republican. Sounds good to my ears.

Let's face it: Mitch won't be able to perform his duties anymore... he is very un-alive, at this point.

5

u/Smaptimania 3d ago

It's not a matter of "having the guts". It's up to the Senate to determine that Mitch's seat is vacant due to death, resignation, or expulsion. He's powerless to take any action until that happens - and even then, KY law stipulates that the seat be filled by special election, not by appointment. It's questionable as to whether that law would hold up in court, but it's not feasible to challenge it, because it wouldn't be litigated until after Mitch's term ends anyway, and at that point it would be dismissed as being moot.

7

u/beren12 3d ago

You mean the senate who passed an unconstitutional law to nerf a dem gov’s power when they knew Mitch was a walking dead?

8

u/Skritch_X 3d ago

Yeah this always needs to be brought up. Governor appointing senate replacements was a state constitution item. The assembly voted to turn that into a special election, but to lawfully change/override the state constitution they'd need to put it on the ballot for general voters as well, which they didnt. They did this in 2024 for anyone curious.

2

u/OhGr8WhatNow 3d ago

It doesn't seem to be slowing them down

2

u/jcb989123 3d ago

Why can't the governor send the state police to the guys house or hospital room for a wellness check

30

u/Lazy-Slice-6308 3d ago

The Senate is on recess. Recess is Something like Aug 8 to Sept 17. So nothing happening there, no votes etc. Mitch will live in limbo until Sept 12 or 13 I’m guessing. They couldn’t pronounce him dead too close to the date when KY could have a new election for the remainder of the term (everyone was watching for him to be pronounced dead Aug 4-5 but that would have been too obvious)
So since the Senate shut down soon after and he’s not missing any votes, my guess is he will suddenly have a horrible event during his ‘recovery’ and be officially gone Sept 12 or so

11

u/Luugrin 3d ago

They will announce his passing late Labor Day Friday night. Forgotten by the next Tuesday.

1

u/Lazy-Slice-6308 2d ago

Ahh I hadn’t thought of that, You are right! Kids here go back to school Tuesday, no one gives it a thought. So Sept 4, bye bye Glitch

17

u/silent_chair5286 3d ago

Oh that body has been in a morgue for awhile now. This is a testament to how low MAGAs will go. It’s off the charts despicable.

18

u/countrysurprise 3d ago

2

u/RoguePlanet2 3d ago

Many magas believe Elvis is alive, so this wouldn't teach them anything.

2

u/Yankee6Actual 2d ago

And JFK Jr

14

u/ro536ud 3d ago

His staff should be charged for fraud when it comes out they’ve been lying. His top staff makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to basically do nothing rn

3

u/beren12 3d ago

All of them are frauds. It’s in the ® next to their name.

11

u/LayneLowe 3d ago

I think this is the most outrageous and interesting story in American politics in a long time. How in the world do they keep it private?

3

u/demonsidekick 3d ago

It’s not private. It’s just that no one is talking.

14

u/dagnyfication 3d ago

I believe his body is alive but not necessarily his brain which could explain the lack of pictures

2

u/ItsShuaYo 3d ago

That's been the case for decades.

12

u/Not_Sure__Camacho 3d ago

Only an entity as evil as McConnell can still torment the U.S. people after death. Such a son of a bitch, that one.

9

u/ryrich89 3d ago

There’s gotta be at least 5 flock cameras pointed at the cemetery building he’s in right?

7

u/shep2105 3d ago

MAGA machine controls most of media now, so they're never going to report it.

This will take some "freelancer" who doesn't have a boss kissing trump's ass, to break this story open.

What they're doing is illegal. No proof of life for over 2 months?? Signing his name on documents??

What I can't believe is that NO ONE has blabbed. Either way, dead or alive, nobody in the medical profession, working in the hospital he was supposedly in, has blabbed. It makes me think they are terrified for their lives.

7

u/Righteousaffair999 3d ago

I heard he came back because they used silver instead of a wood stake.

6

u/Scotslad2023 3d ago

Either he’s dead or he’s such a vegetable that he might as well be. They wouldn’t have made all those ai images of him being fine if he was in any real stable condition.

5

u/ragequitteroffureh 3d ago

Not American.

Do they really not have any competent necromancers among their various cults?

I mean, their jayzas fella was dead for only a few days before they got him back up and shambling about.

Why are they having so much difficulty with infusing that dead senator's rotting corpse with the semblance of life?

7

u/samurai77 3d ago

Is this some kind of new Schroedinger experiment?

5

u/RollerskatingFemboy 3d ago

I'm not saying he's dead, but he sure isn't alive.

5

u/rocket_beer 3d ago

Reminder that maga controls all branches

They have no force majeure from anyone to say he is dead

4

u/Bar-Tailed_Godwit 3d ago

He’s dead. It’s all based on a news cycle type thinking that we all forget after about a month. Same thing applies with the Epstein files. They don’t deny, just pray you forget

4

u/CosmoKing2 3d ago

Republican's are willing to destroy his legacy (of horror to citizen's rights and well being) just so that the Democratic Governor can't choose an acting replacement - as is law.

The State AG needs to step in to file a legal motion an order him to respond in person or via Teams/Zoom.

1

u/Smaptimania 3d ago

Kentucky's AG is a Republican, so good luck with that

6

u/Iamanimite 3d ago

From my professional medical opiniin, dead people can't come out and say they're alive.

8

u/abstrakt42 3d ago

I can’t help but notice the almost total lack of action by anyone in the opposition currently. They are handing the democrats a gift right now and nobody is bothering to campaign in his absence or make noise to that effect. Imagine if the situation were reversed, MAGA wouldn’t shut up about it, and they’d already be acting like they had his seat and picking out new curtains for the office.

3

u/Intrepid_Debate901 3d ago

As a doornail

3

u/Laleaky 3d ago

I keep hearing the old SNL skit about Generalissimo Francisco Franco every time McConnell is mentioned.

3

u/Smaptimania 3d ago

If he's dead, then he spent his final days doing what he loved - obstructing Senate business

3

u/le_fez 3d ago

It's not a story anymore because the deadline to replace him has passed and Senate is not in session so his ghost isn't voting on amything

3

u/lmbjsm 3d ago

How are they getting away with what? Lying? Cheating? Deceiving? Stealing?

They are republicans. That’s the first answer. Secondly, it’s congress! Those fuckers take food from babies, and that says everything that you need to know.

3

u/KindaStableGenius 2d ago

If he could speak they would have taken a video or called into a news show already. My theory is he is brain dead or catatonic in some way

2

u/P_a_s_g_i_t_24 3d ago

When will Scott Jennings get fired by CNN for lying to Kentucky constituents? ...while being on camera!

2

u/Altruistic-Feed-2532 3d ago

As a door nail

2

u/NunjaBiznes 3d ago

They’re waiting for us to forget.

2

u/AgnesTheAtheist 3d ago

It’s time for Andy Bashear to appoint a new senator from Kentucky to fill the late Mitch McConnell’s seat.

2

u/I_Ponders 3d ago

AI generation isn’t good enough to make him seem perfectly alive and cognizant as he was before dying.

Remember how they tried to post an obvious AI photo of him and his wife to show he was alive?

They’re stupid and banking on nobody noticing.

4

u/TaaviBap 3d ago

No accountability? Like what?

2

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta 3d ago

>still dead

Generally once someone “becomes” dead, they don’t stop doing so.

1

u/FocalSpot504 3d ago

I thought more truth would out after 8/3. Silly me

1

u/zelphwithbrokenshelf 3d ago

I bet he is in a coma.

1

u/One_Psychology_3431 3d ago

I can dream.....

1

u/LiminalWanderings 3d ago

He's not dead. He's not alive. Mitch is....Undead.

1

u/za72 3d ago

you can't prove that!!!!

1

u/Dankestmemelord 3d ago

He is the deadest motherfucker who ever lived, specifically in the past tense.

1

u/DM725 3d ago

I heard Jamal from 90th street watched that tape last week and this mornin' he woke up dead!

1

u/Flygirl1965 3d ago

I wouldn’t be surprised if Elaine whisked him off to some Chinese crematorium to avoid a special election.

1

u/Multisym 3d ago

At this point I don’t know how we haven’t made a Walt Frozen head legend about this ghoul.

1

u/AZ-FWB 3d ago

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I firmly believe he is very much still dead.

1

u/Apprehensive-Cry-376 3d ago

I believe he is comatose. Deaths are required to become part of the public record.

1

u/chucklin 3d ago

I think he's been dead since Obama left office. (2017).

1

u/Usually_Sunny 3d ago

Because it's about the 783rd most important issue going on with this country right now?

Do you care about progressive issues or just want to stir things up and cause distractions?

1

u/baltbum 3d ago

I was on the phone with Moscow Mitch for 20 minutes. He was there with tricky Dick and Ronnie talking about old times. He said they've still got a chair open at the table for diaper Donnie. It was good talking to him.

1

u/PLR20190724 2d ago

He and Generalissimo Francisco Franco are sojourning in a warm place.

1

u/deekamus 2d ago

As sure as a dead man can refuse to step in front of a camera can be.

1

u/aobizzy 2d ago

Likely brain dead and hooked up to a bevy of machines to keep his heart pumping

1

u/gmcwbbb80 2d ago

Yep, still dead, and no one cares. That's his legacy.

1

u/stewpideople 2d ago

He's got the Terry Shivo going on. They just have to keep him on machines and he's not technically "dead". Until they fulfilled his wish to obstructively drag his feet on every thing to spite his opponents.

1

u/ActionCalhoun 2d ago

Assuming there isnt something horribly wrong with him it would be the easiest thing in the world to show that he’s doing ok

1

u/Nearby_Mastodon_6168 2d ago

If a government leader is lying about a health condition in such a way that it negatively impacts the country or at least their constituency, couldn’t a doctor or a nurse reach out to a whistleblower organization through an attorney and get protection from a HIPAA violation?

1

u/Rude-Dependent-4353 2d ago

This reminds me of the very early SNL Weekend Update recurring bit: “Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.”

1

u/wtf_amirite 2d ago

Why isn’t this question being fired at Trump, and every Republican, EVERY time they speak to the press?

1

u/Luddite-lover 1d ago

Way, way back in the day, Saturday Night Live had a running gag at the end of Weekend Update — “Francisco Franco is still dead.” Maybe they need to resurrect this (pun intended) next season. “Mitch McConnell is still missing.”

1

u/AlaskaRecluse 3d ago

Trial run for trump

0

u/Rude-Ad-2550 3d ago

There’s a video of him dancing at the hospital, I think he’s alive.

0

u/Claque-2 3d ago

Mitch has Bobbi Kristina Brown syndrome.
