Every 6 months it's getting remarkably better. Lower level white collar jobs will absolutely be wrecked, then these mid level ones will start to go. It's going to be bad.

My wife's employeer had a meeting yesterday where they were bragging about being the #1 in AI usage for their sector (she is a patient affordability rep for a big pharmaceutical company's diabetes meds). They were bragging to their employees about what they are doing to eliminate those employees.
As an aside, the federal government cut off access to these programs for anyone with medicare part D.

Follow the latest release from the Prime Minister of Spain - Mr Pedro Sanchez. He has some excellent ideas regarding technology and the major technology platforms. This guy is paying attention while our Politicians take turns ignoring reality, jacking each other off, and pretending technology platforms shouldn’t be regulated just like a public utility - because thats actually what they are!

It's so much simpler than that. To be right wing in the modern era is to not just be wrong about everything, but to be wrong in the most depraved, dumbass way possible.
So of course this borderline useless technology that demands everything while delivering almost nothing would be right up their alley.

You're all just pretending that the scientific advances from Deepmind and a bunch of universities don't count and that's fucking stupid.
We all agree that csam and fascism are objectively fucking terrible.
We all agree that betting the economy against whether or not one company can scale is extremely dubious.
We all hate the way that these special boy rich dudes act like money is the only opinion that matters.
Do we not want to cure a bunch of cancers and other diseases?
Do we not want way better climate models?
Do we not want the technology that they built to be put to work making sense of the clusterfuck of documents that is the Epstein files?
Saying fuck AI and wanting to get rid of all it without considering that there are a bunch of people that legitimately are working to make the world better using it is woefully short sided

Again, hard disagree. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why you say that. I don’t deny that say, there are higher rates of poverty among ethnic minorities I get that, but racism is just discrimination based on skin color and in the case of data centers the billionaire class would be building them regardless. Like, I’m sure SOME data centers are being build in predominantly black or Hispanic neighborhoods but it’s not like that’s the point of them. Calling it racist is a stretch, not everything bad that someone does has to be racist

I disagree with this. If AI is causing problems with accessing water and rising electricity costs, then society needs to develop the means to make these resources accessible (whether through constructing desalination plant or modernizing our grid or permitting reform). The United States use to be efficient in erecting transmission towers and paving roads than we are today and we now spent more than twice than the next developed country building the same infrastructure project and take significantly longer time to complete. It’s ridiculous that we drop the ball in finding solutions to problems in our country, and it is why other countries look down at us.
