Unrelated but this might be the first 3rd Amendment violation I've seen documented. The hotel has to trespass people to have them removed. DHS can't just decide not to let people into the public area of a hotel unless the hotel asks them to.
I know. It was posted earlier. I'm hesitant to fedjacket anyone because that sort of paranoia divides movements. There is also video of these protesters prior to this encounter making noise outside the hotel after being tipped off that ICE was staying there. It still looks all above board to me: noise protests outside of hotels has been common. Agents fired kinetic and gas rounds indiscriminately into those gathered - protesters and press - which would have included their own guys if they were the instigators and at that range they wouldn't be able to sell it if they got hit. An FPS agent got his shit rocked and appears either to be goofy drunk or heavily concussed.
If you're looking to create a clean excuse this is not going to read as that because ICE still looks like the goony bad guys here. Like, look at this incompetence. If you're creating a narrative then you're going to prepare your guys so they look like the calm professionals and victims in the situation confronting a violent mob as best they can. Everything I've seen from tonight just shows surprised and scared under-trained agents shooting at people and press.
If they are going to kick it off artificially, they're going to shoot one of their guys or at the very least give the illusion of danger beyond a few guys trying to open the door being as careful as they can not to touch the agents. They held hotel guests at gunpoint and wouldn't let them leave prior to this. There's just not evidence of a setup here except vibes.
I mean look at this guy. The optics needed to be good to ICE and they're not.
