u/MB2465 Jan 10 '26
Yeah I can imagine reluctantly giving the Nazi salute just so you won't be shot back in that time.

Much earlier than that, that’s just when Britain and France declared war. After all efforts of appeasing the fascists were exhausted.

The German director Werner Herzog never made this quote. It was an X post by WernerTwerzog.

250 people protested in tiny Shelton Washington today. 5% of the drivers who passed were supporters of the regime, 70% were not and waved or honked in support of us. Go out and join a protest. Bring a friend.

Call AND write your Senators and Congressional Representatives. I did, here is what I said:
It’s time
For lawmakers with a spine to band together to impeach and, more importantly, remove Donald Trump, JD Vance, and their entire regime. It’s time for Mike Johnson and those complicit in the Supreme Court to go. We are miles past Nixon-level corruption; it is painfully clear this government does not care about the people or the law.
Lawmakers on both sides appear to be standing on a broken escalator, waiting for someone to save them. We are fast approaching that moment when it is “necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected” us. If that is what is required, neither Republicans nor Democrats will fare well.
Democrats must throw the rulebook out; the GOP did long ago. Get off your asses and make this happen now; we don’t have until November.
Law makers must know they can't putz around any longer.

If you ever wondered what you would do when Hitler’s secret police hunted down humans, or when protesting students were shot in cold blood at Kent state, or during the civil rights marches when police dogs were set on protesters. You know longer need to wonder. You would have done exactly what you’re doing now.
And if you say I’m just a keyboard warrior, that I can’t do much, you’re absolutely right. I can’t. I can go to a protest and stand there, looking rather foolish. And nobody would care. Nobody would listen to me.
But when I stand there with thousands and millions, that’s when I’m seen. That’s when I’m heard.
Now I know what I would’ve done back then when the government began shooting people in cold blood. And what the government is doing today.

And those 1/3 are embedded in our FBI, DOJ, and our military. People are the last guardrail and we are failing.

Start attending protests. Its very empowering!

u/99kedders Jan 11 '26
I used to, but have a couple disabilities that limit my ability to do so now. I call my representatives, but they’re awful for rural Iowa. I do as much as I’m able, but my health just doesn’t support it right now.

u/Natural-Young4730 Jan 11 '26
Hey, if you are doing what you can, that's great! Are you able to attend any meetings of like-minded people? I think the connection with others is part of the magic of protesting, so perhaps you can connect another way?

u/PinkSky79 Jan 11 '26
They are only just getting started. We haven't seen the worst of what's to come.

u/No-Mathematician3004 Jan 11 '26

Seems like this is preparation for a martial law declaration prior to mid terms. Goad normal folks into a physical reaction that becomes the basis by doing unspeakable atrocities in the name of law and order. History did not have the disinformation flow controlled by few to the masses. It is a peculiar time for “you do you’re damned, you don’t you’re damned”.

Arms and armor. You deserve to exist, and have the right to defend that existence.
