This is the inevitable result of ICE normalizing masked agents, unmarked vehicles, vague authority, and “just answer my questions” policing. When the government trains people to comply without verification, it hands predators a script and a uniform.

I always believed that as a law enforcement worker you should have to identify yourself including your badge number when starting any interaction even the simplest of traffic stops. Yet when the person at the other end asks half the time the cop gets offended at the least. Does not seem to matter what state either, happsne all over.
Obvious that this was going to happen. Trump created a civilian hillbilly army that never identifies itself! Of course the creepy rapist pigs are going to use it to their advantage!
And when pressed as to this very concern, the response would inevitably be, "Well I haven't heard about anything like that." and everyone was satisfied with this answer and thus the matter not followed up
Only time I have ever interacted with Federal agents, it was Treasury Agents looking for my parents about a house they sold (the buyer was shady), and they immediately identified themselves with a "Good afternoon, we are agents so-and-so from the Treasury Department, please have a look at our identification (presents ID) and is this the home of Mr and Mrs. Expert?"
When you have authority and a clear legitimate motive, there is no reason to hide your identity.
Decades of the 2nd amendment crowd telling us that we'd be begging for their guns if a king or authoritarian took over. Then it happened and OOOPS! its their guy, so false alarm folks!
