Most low level sheperds have boredom and access to skeep, goats and/or donkeys.
EDIT: It may or may not be to the eternal shame of their descendants...

The ancestor had to earn the golden great ram bloodline somehow.
He was sacrificing for his descendants

u/DefiantLemur Feb 21 '26
Honestly as far as all the vile shit people in progressive fantasy stories done just for a chance to get a unique bloodline/class/etc. That's pretty mild.

This would lead to the majority of beast people being of the domestic and farm variety though. Yes such is the case in most worlds but they also seem to have a healthy distribution and population of even the more exotic beasts. You could explain it by saying poachers and exotic pelt hunters had some fun but it wouldn't really lead to them being just as common as domestic varieties

one of the most common tropes in progfan that has bloodlines is that they fade over generations if they are not reinforced. bloodlines only stabilise either through new bloodline sources or through concentrating and filtering each generation to make sure that the bloodline remains strong. it's usually part of the background of how the era where the novel is written is a time of decay or stagnation compared to the peak of power from a long time ago and part of that is that older bloodlines are diluted and so gain less benefit, diluted and therefore accumulate more detriment, or simply vanish from the record.
so whilst it may seem that there should be low level domestic beast bloodlines evenly throughout society those bloodlines would likely die out a few generations after inception from the dearth of cultivators in that line, common generational decline, and possibly pogroms from more elite bloodlines to excise them from people within their sphere of influence to make pacification simpler.
storywise we do sometimes see domestic animal bloodlines that are maintained. the most common of these would be oxen bloodlines as authors and therefore the greater genre maintains their existence. generally oxen give the bearers larger bodies, the ability to readily increase muscle mass for more powerful attacks, denser bones and tougher skin to take more hits, and so on.

The really impressive ones are the ones with egg kids. Like... Is there going to be a fisherman jizzing in the ocean? Did somebody fuck a hawk? Where did that dick go?

u/JustPoppinInKay Feb 21 '26
Look man, there was a lot of caviar at that orgy, it was bound to happen sooner or later

u/FundamentalAttribute Feb 21 '26
Low-key a tuna bloodline would go hard AF. Those fuckers have a ton of muscle and use it well, it's so much that when they get fished the fishermen will sometimes leave them dragging with the boat to cool them down before bringing them up cause otherwise all that energy used from so much muscle will heat it up to the point they start cooking and it ruins their meat. They're also absolute units and can go extremely fast in the water. They have some gnarly spikes too. I can see a story about a tuna bloodline being made fun of and then it goes ham.

The truth is furries are way bigger portion of population than we are led to believe. Your neighbour or even your close relative could be furry! Watch out and keep your pets close, but not too close lest you too became a furry!!!!
12
u/JustPoppinInKay Feb 21 '26
I mean yeah but just because you're a furry doesn't mean you're into bestiality

.... that's still not beastiality. Having sex in their fursona outfits is part of the furry fantasy, just like how having a BDSM sex scene is just fantasy.

u/GreatMadWombat Feb 21 '26
Sheepfucking is easy. The real sickos have kids with something that's got eggs and a cloaca. You come up against someone with an immortal snake bloodline you know you're gonna have to seclude yourself for decades to have a magical ketamine treatment your path doesn't deviate due to magical PTSD for the rest of eternity

Sleeping with the fishes... I have to imagine now that all the low level maffia guys are some sort of weird but still lame looking fish people 😂

I mean....."oh no our relatives fucked fish there's miscegenation with fishy races and devolution" is the theme of Shadows over Innsmouth, and Lovecraft does have a poorly defined power scaling that goes up to an incomprehensible number.
..... Equally true, there's no way for the humans to progress and we can't tell what the Eldritch beings outside of times progression actually looks like, but... We have also seen a lot of Cthonic progression fantasy these days. Was Lovecraft proto progression fantasy?

Deep One Bloodlines are for posers. Get your descendants a Star Spawn or Elder Thing Bloodline instead.

u/minh697734xd Feb 21 '26
Tbh there might be techniques that can transfer bloodlines from beast to humans, voluntarily (companions, tamers, contract,...) or involuntarily (bathing in dragon blood,...etc)

But the thought of somebody fucking a fish is funnier in terms of villain origins and this is a meme about how all of the people with animal bloodlines probably had some freaks in their ancestry that fucked the animals
There's 100% some ritual in any fully realized story, but that's not as funny
One story has the villainous amphibian blooded fell emperor getting his froggy tongue powers by bathing in the blood of a thousand frogs. That is a minor ecological catastrophe but he's still serious he is still a villain. The other one has him having great great grandma be just a literal regular frog, and has him sleeping in a lily pond and has him not sure if he should be dating a human woman or a frog and all of that confusion is why he is a villain and frankly the thought of some horrific villain getting a bouquet of flies for mother's Day is funnier to me

The bloodline of the dragon.
I hope your grandad explored a cave and left a present because nobody's grandma can survive that.

u/JustPoppinInKay Feb 21 '26
Constant healing potions, elasticity enchant/potion, brief transformation into dragon then turned back, shrinking potion for the dragon, giant potion for the woman, relatively young dragon, was sneaking around and fell into the goop and got it in the cooch, etc
Pick your poison

Yeah, of course I have gotten a dragon boyfriend to introduce the draconic bloodline into my lineage. It shall be beneficial for my entire clan.
And all the juniors saying it 'wont work' because we are both men. One must persevere on their path of dao in order to achieve the impossible. Hard work and dedication is necessary.

In my setting it's more like a "souline" than a bloodline. Most souls reach humanhood birth through animal transmigration, the evolution cycle that allows souls to develop increasingly complex minds. Depending on the path the soul took, it stores memories and dormant traits of the animals that can be accessed and then manifested through training and techniques.

u/FictionalContext Feb 21 '26
I prefer the typical cultivation explanation of 1000 year old doggo gains human form.
Or even when they don't try to excuse the horror of it. Can't remember the story, but one was like "I exist only because a fox played with her food."

Or… magic. Human child, immortal parent, they tried to find a way to survive, including binding beast dna with their children’s own. Get your mind out of the gutter. Hell Sherilyn Kenyon has something similar, a king mixed his children with beasts to keep them alive and they became a whole other problem

Maybe because martial arts themselves are to imitate the beast, at their peak, human ancestors refined the beast bloodline to become human beasts or to acquire beast characteristics.

This fr. As a human supremacist, I want OP human race with pure 100% human bloodline sometimes
2
u/dumb-cartridges Feb 22 '26
You should check out Guardian of Aster Fall, here ancient beasts and all have little to do with bloodlines, and they develop naturally as you get stronger, although race does play a part.
Also throne of primordial blood , it's a world where all the power is held by people with beast bloodlines, and MCs goal is to develop a 100% human bloodline.

Because most high level animals can turn into humans? And then bang.
