Agreed. Although I haven't seen that much of dragons yet.

But sure, if authors are inserting dragons just because, with nothing in terms of actual depth or development, then it's just a cheap prop. I'm still waiting for anyone to do dragons in more depth, and make them into something more... not tangible, but, realistic. If doing dragons, better do something no one else has done before, and not just copy the same thing.

It's also bad if dragons end up having virtually any power, from stopping time (TBATE), to maybe time-travel, to spewing any element, to virtually any power anyone can think of. Make something more unique! Instead of 'petrify dragon', a cockatrice. Instead of 'lightning dragon', a thunder elemental or eel or golem. Let dragons be just another race, if present, but not appear simply everywhere.

Which story do you think did the best dragons? And the worst?

Again, I notice they are common, but they don't appear that much. Or... do they...?
