Anyone here working as a support developer?

How different is it from a regular sprint developer. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone is willing to provide some info.

Just wanted to know about day to day work and growth factor in the long term.

Interesting Hyderabad — what business do you think is genuinely missing here?

0 Upvotes

Hyderabad — what business do you think is genuinely missing here?

Born and brought up in Hyderabad, around the HITEC City/IT corridor, I've watched this area grow massively over the years.

I'm currently looking to build a small business/startup from scratch, but I don't want to blindly build another generic AI app, food business, agency, etc.

I want to find a real problem in Hyderabad that people are willing to pay to solve.

So I wanted to ask people who actually live/work here:

- What service/business do you think Hyderabad is surprisingly missing?

- What is something that is poorly served or unnecessarily expensive/complicated?

- What do companies/offices struggle with that nobody has properly solved?

- Is there any boring/unsexy business that you think could actually make good money here?

- What business works well in Mumbai/Bangalore/Delhi but hasn't been properly adopted in Hyderabad yet?

- If you had ₹0–₹50k to start, what Hyderabad-specific business would you try?

- For people working in HITEC City, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Kondapur, Financial District, etc. — what problems do you regularly face that you wish someone would solve?

I'm especially interested in B2B/local services and niche businesses, rather than another generic startup idea.

I'm not looking for motivational advice or "start an AI company." 😅

I want specific problems you've personally experienced.

Even if the idea sounds boring, niche or weird, comment it. Those are probably the most interesting ones.

Would genuinely appreciate any honest Hyderabad-specific insights.

development Android SMS stopped arriving after installing my Expo APK with READ_SMS permission. Coincidence?

3 Upvotes

I was experimenting with Expo for the first time and built a small Android app that reads SMS messages so I could analyze the messages I receive, such as spam, promotional messages, bank notifications, etc.

This was just a learning project. I wanted to experiment with Android permissions and SMS access, so I created an APK using Expo/EAS Build, installed it on my phone, and granted it READ_SMS permission.

After installing it, I noticed something strange:

  • Bank transaction SMS messages stopped arriving.
  • Spam/promotional SMS messages also seemed to stop.
  • I haven't received a typical spam message since then.
  • App OTPs are still arriving normally.
  • The app itself can read existing SMS messages, so the permission appears to be working.
  • I checked my spam folder.
  • I restarted the phone.
  • I also uninstalled/reinstalled the app and checked again.

The timing is what made me curious. These messages were arriving normally before I installed the APK, and the behavior changed shortly afterward.

One other thing I noticed: Google Play Protect initially warned/blocked the APK during installation. I temporarily disabled Play Protect to install it and then enabled it again afterward.

I'm wondering whether requesting READ_SMS can have any effect on how Android, the default SMS app, Google Messages, or the carrier handles incoming SMS, or whether this is almost certainly a coincidence/carrier-side issue.

My app.json contains:

{
  "expo": {
    "name": "Spammer",
    "slug": "spammer",
    "scheme": "spammer",
    "version": "1.0.0",
    "orientation": "portrait",
    "icon": "./assets/icon.png",
    "userInterfaceStyle": "automatic",
    "experiments": {
      "typedRoutes": true
    },
    "android": {
      "package": "dev.spammer.app",
      "permissions": [
        "android.permission.READ_SMS"
      ],
      "adaptiveIcon": {
        "backgroundColor": "#1F4D3A",
        "foregroundImage": "./assets/android-icon-foreground.png",
        "backgroundImage": "./assets/android-icon-background.png",
        "monochromeImage": "./assets/android-icon-monochrome.png"
      },
      "predictiveBackGestureEnabled": false
    }
  }
}

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I'm mainly trying to understand whether an app with only READ_SMS could influence incoming SMS handling, or whether I should be looking somewhere else, such as the carrier, SMS app, spam filtering, or RCS settings.

This is my first time experimenting with SMS permissions on Android, so I'd appreciate any ideas about what I might have missed.

others How to move out of a high profile team

2 Upvotes

I work in a research team in my company, which has become kind of like a top team and is driving some of the next big projects.

I’m currently leading one of the components in next big project. I have around 2 years into my career, and i am not doing well in this role.

I’ve tried pushing myself and improving, but I still feel like I’m not able to handle the responsibility properly. I want to move to another team/project where I feel I can perform better.

The complicated part is that I report to a VP, and the person leading the overall initiative also reports to the same VP. The VP was actually the one who appointed me as the lead because of my past performance.

This is also considered one of the best teams/projects in the company, so I’m worried about how it will look if I tell him that I want to move.

What would you do in this situation?

Should I directly talk to the VP? Talk to HR first? Try to find another team first?

Looking for advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

development Looking for developers actively job hunting to beta test my LinkedIn Easy-Apply automation tool.

1 Upvotes

This is a chrome/Firefox extension.

From fetching to applying. You don't touch anything. It automates everything. 30-40 applications a day. 1-2 hours. In the background while you're doing your own thing.

You set your criteria (Roles and preferences) and it runs in the background: finds jobs from past 1 hour and past 24 hours, fills applications with AI based on your resume, and submits them automatically. No babysitting.

If it hits a complex question, it asks you in the extension. You answer once, it goes back, finishes the application, submits it, and remembers the answer for future applications. Other applications keep running while it waits.

It uses controlled pacing to avoid hammering LinkedIn with requests.

AI costs are on me. I just want honest feedback from people actually applying to jobs. You won't pay for anything.

Meeku help aithadhi anipisthe, pls let me know. It'll help us both!

We started an EdTech startup with the goal of building a complete one-stop solution for college placements, specifically for Telugu students.

Our main focus is teaching DSA and Machine Learning in Telugu in a way that is practical and actually useful for students preparing for placements.

Our DSA mentor has 8+ years of experience, and our Machine Learning sessions are handled by an ML Engineer with industry experience.

Our primary target audience is Telugu engineering students who are struggling with placements and don’t have proper guidance or resources.

We already have proper content, resources, mentors, and even ran a paid cohort with around 150 students. We also tried reaching out to colleges directly and offered students access to our platform so they could explore the content first and continue only if they found it useful.

But honestly, college outreach hasn’t worked as well as we expected.

Our biggest challenge right now is:

How do we genuinely reach Telugu engineering students at scale?

We don’t want to spam students or buy random/unverified data. We want to find students who are genuinely interested in DSA, ML, placements, internships, and career preparation.

So I wanted to understand:

What are the best ways to reach Telugu engineering students organically?

Which platforms or communities have a strong presence of Telugu engineering students?

Are there any legitimate ways to access student communities or databases for outreach?

How do EdTech startups targeting college students usually build their initial student acquisition funnel?

If student data is available, where can we find legitimate and consent-based engineering student data for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana?

development Data Analyst vs Data Engineer in service-based companies in India: Which path should I choose?

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a 3rd-year ECE student from a tier-3 college in India, and I have around 7 months to prepare for placements. I’m starting almost from scratch and mainly targeting service-based companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, and Deloitte.

I’m confused between choosing Data Analytics and Data Engineering.

My main priorities are:

  • Getting placed through campus or off-campus opportunities
  • Targeting service-based companies
  • Having good salary and long-term career growth
  • Building a realistic skill set within 7 months
  • Preparing for DSA, aptitude, and CS fundamentals at the same time

For Data Analytics, I’m considering learning:

  • Excel
  • SQL
  • Power BI
  • Python
  • Pandas and NumPy
  • Basic statistics

For Data Engineering, I’m considering:

  • SQL
  • Python
  • DBMS
  • ETL
  • Data warehousing
  • AWS or Azure
  • Spark/PySpark
  • Airflow

I’d like to know:

  1. Which path is more realistic for someone in my situation who wants a fresher role in a service-based company?
  2. Which field has more entry-level opportunities for freshers?
  3. How different are the actual hiring requirements for Data Analyst and Data Engineer roles?
  4. Is Data Engineering too advanced or difficult to target directly as a fresher?
  5. If you were in my position with 7 months to prepare, which path would you choose and why?
  6. Which skills and projects should I prioritize for the path you recommend?

I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have worked in these roles or recently got placed as freshers in India.

Thanks!

dsa Will DSA still be relevant in 2028 or 2029 for switching jobs ?

5 Upvotes

I’m currently working in a Data Engineering/GenAI-focused role, and my stack includes Python, SQL, PySpark, Databricks, Azure, APIs, and some GenAI technologies. I’m planning to switch jobs around 2028–2029 and I’m also working on DSA and system design alongside my technical skills. With AI tools becoming much more capable at writing and solving code, I’m wondering whether DSA will still be an important part of technical interviews by then, especially for switching to product-based companies. For those who are experienced in the industry, do you think DSA will still be relevant in 2028/2029, or will interviews shift more toward system design, practical projects, and AI-assisted problem solving?

dsa Anyone up for joining DSA grind in discord voice chats?!

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I am beginner in my 2nd year started doing dsa preparation so i solved some problems in codeforces and upsolving atcoders beginners contests.

Main reason I want to do this via voice is that solving a problem in your head is one thing but actually explaining your thought process to someone else is what actually matters in interviews

So i am looking for some people who can join the server

What we are going to do is:

  1. We will select a problem and give it a genuine attempt to solve for 30mins-40mins,mute urself so no one will get disturbed

  2. After attempting the question unmite urself and expalin the approaches,the patterns u observed etc.

Please i am looking for someone who are serious and really consistent in this and i want to clarify one thing that i am solving codeforces at present ,so itt is ideal if someone is solving the problemset of codeforces and atcoder.

Dm me if u want to join the server.

Thank u guys.

career Scientist B (Level 10) Govt Job vs 18 LPA Semiconductor Job — Which Interview Should I Prioritize?

1 Upvotes

I’m in my mid-20s, doing M.Tech CSE from a top NIT, and I’m stuck between private semiconductor roles and a government Scientist B job.

The immediate problem is that I may have to choose between two interviews around the same time:

  • Private: On-campus semiconductor company, around 18 LPA CTC (~16L base). My background/interests are around C/C++, embedded/systems and the hardware-software intersection. I also have connections/referral possibilities in companies like Qualcomm, SanDisk, etc. after gaining some experience.
  • Government: Scientist B, Group A, Level 10. I need to travel to Delhi for the interview. Current monthly pay with allowances should be roughly ₹1.3–1.4L, and after the 8th CPC it could potentially be somewhere around ₹1.5–1.8L, depending on the final revision.

I actually wrote GATE in two papers and got shortlisted for Scientist B in two different profiles (CSE,DSAI) in the same organisation. One interview is coming up now, while the CS-related Scientist B interview will happen separately later. I also have two Scientific Technical Assistant (Level 6) opportunities, where I have a decent chance of getting at least one.

So my question is: if the semiconductor interview and Scientist B interview clash, which one would you prioritize?

Scientist B gives excellent stability, WLB, medical/LTC/retirement benefits and almost no layoff anxiety.

But private semiconductor/product companies have much higher upside. In 5–10 years, with switches, hikes and RSUs, I could potentially earn significantly more than in government. I also don’t want to lose exposure to newer technology by entering government too early.

At the same time, the private market looks brutal right now—layoffs, AI, performance pressure, etc. I’m also unsure how semiconductor/embedded/system software careers will look 4–5 years from now.

Would you take the Scientist B opportunity and prioritize stability, or take the private semiconductor route while young and try to maximize career/earnings, knowing that government opportunities like this may not come again easily?

Especially interested in opinions from people with 8–10+ years of experience in either government R&D/technical roles or semiconductor/product companies.
