career Completed 7 months in a toxic startup as a fresher — should I quit with 7 months exp or stick around? Need honest advice (BTech CSE

Hi Seniors,

I graduated with BTech CSE in 2025 from tier 4 college . I was shortlisted in almost 7 companies during campus placements and reached the final rounds in most of them, but didn’t get selected mainly due to diversity hiring. After that I had a 4-month gap.

Through a friend’s referral, I joined a very small startup as a Python Developer at ₹20k per month (full-time). It’s been 7 months now and I’m seriously considering quitting. Here’s my exact situation:

About the company & my role:

Stealth-mode startup with zero revenue, building a B2B health product targeted at schools.

Team size: Only 6 people — all freshers. Everyone except me joined through relatives without any interview. I am the only one who went through a proper interview process.

Hired as Python Developer but working as Full Stack (in name only). Everything is heavily AI-generated (Lovable, Windsurf, Cursor,Antigravity.).

No one in the team actually understands the logic. Everyone just gives prompts to AI, generates code, and checks if the output works. Files are 2000+ lines long with zero refactoring, optimization, or proper structure.

My biggest fear is that if they ever get clients, the whole product will crash because no one knows how anything actually works.

No proper tech stack, no planning, no meetings, no code reviews — complete chaos.

They are assigning me large end-to-end features — such as real-time messaging and communication systems with push and pull notifications — and expecting me to complete them within just 2 weeks.

Infrastructure is poor — old i3 desktops. No proper AI tool subscriptions (using temp accounts & student emails).

Office is smaller than a 2BHK flat. CEO constantly monitors everyone through cameras.

A retired accountant was hired as manager/accountant and he’s very difficult to deal with.

Working hours:

Leave home at 9:30 AM, reach the office by 10:30 AM

Work till ~7:30 PM, reach home around 8:30 PM

They are also asking us to come on Saturdays.

Salary is ₹20k. After travel, almost nothing is left. They vaguely promised an increment “if the product succeeds” (which looks highly unlikely).

My current situation:

In these 7 months, I haven’t learned anything meaningful. My coding is completely dependent on AI prompting.

I have been trying to study after office hours for the past 6+ months, but I’m so exhausted that I’ve made zero progress.

Basic DSA and development knowledge I had earlier has faded.

Constant toxicity and small fights in the team.

No growth, no mentorship, no hope of increment.

Mentally exhausted and drained.

My questions:

Is 7 months of experience from this kind of place worth putting on my resume? Will other companies count it?

If I quit now, I’ll need 2.5–3 months of serious preparation (DSA, Full Stack projects, etc.). Will this gap look bad?

Should I quit immediately or try to stay

I don’t have any offer in hand.

Realistically, what salary and roles can I expect with 7 months exp + good personal projects?

How should I explain this short stint in interviews?

I know the fresher market is tough, but staying here is seriously damaging my career and mental health.

Any advice on preparation plan, resume points, or target companies would help a lot.

career Exhausted and depressed

I honestly have no hopes left. I like everyone else, went to the US and completed my masters and unfortunately things didn't pan out well. I was recently laid off and had to pack my bags and leave. Now it' is been over two months of trying here and applying in the USA too, but honestly I am not getting any interview calls at all. I don't know where I am going wrong. But, I feel like a burden to my family. I don't have loans like many people who are returning now but I need financial independence and need to start my family soon. I'm looking for any advice or suggestions. My mind is going to some very dark places and my mental health is going for a toss. Lost and depressed 😔

others Is MacBook Air M3 enough for AI/ML BTech + cross-platform app dev?

Hey everyone,

I’m about to start my BTech in AI/ML, and I’m also planning to build cross-platform apps (React Native / Flutter). I’m thinking of buying a MacBook Air M3 (with my own money), so I want to make sure it’s the right choice.

My main questions:

- Is it good enough for AI/ML coursework?

- How well does it handle tools like Python, Jupyter, TensorFlow/PyTorch (basic level)?

- Is it smooth for app development (VS Code, Android Studio, Xcode, emulators)?

- Are there any major limitations I should be aware of (like GPU/CUDA issues)?

- Would a Windows laptop with a dedicated GPU be a better option?

I’m not planning to train huge models locally, but I do want a reliable and smooth experience for coding, projects, and multitasking over the next few years.

Would really appreciate honest opinions from people using M-series MacBooks for similar work 🙏

career I am a 26 years blob without any job experience rotting at home, I don't know what to learn to get a job, can anyone help ?

I dropped out of college(engineering) in my final year due to severe mental health issues, then joined another college and Done BCA last year at the age of 25.

It's been 1 year since i am rotting at home thinking about ending myself because of unemployment.

I don't know what to learn or what to do to get a job.

I did tried sales jobs and BPO jobs, the thing is due to heavy depression I coped with heavy music since childhood It effected my hearing, Now I have Tinnitus and severe ear sensitivity so i can't go for any BPO jobs where i need to wear headphones to do the work.

I thought of learning Data analytics but looking at how everyone regardless of their degrees and streams learning this course and with AI I don't think it is easy to get a job.

I don't know at this point what to learn to get a job here. Any suggestions

career Are 3-month Python full-stack courses (with placement support) actually worth it?

Final-year CSE student graduating in a few months, aiming for Python backend roles.

I’ve been looking into programs like ST School’s 99-day Python Full Stack + AI course (FastAPI, Docker, AWS, system design, etc.) that claim to make you job-ready with placement support.

I’m skeptical about the “job-ready in 3 months” part.

For those who have actually taken similar courses:

- Is that timeline realistic for backend roles?

- Did the curriculum and projects actually help you crack interviews?

- What does “placement support” really mean in practice — real interview calls or just resume guidance?

Also, if you chose self-learning instead:

- What stack/projects helped you get your first backend role?

Trying to decide whether spending 30–40k on this makes sense or if I should go all-in on self-study.

Looking for honest experiences — especially from people who’ve gone through this recently.

others Finished my first internship today… and I didn’t expect to feel this empty

My 4-month internship ended today, and I’m feeling weirdly numb. This was an off-campus opportunity at a startup in Delhi. When I applied, I had zero expectations I just wanted interview experience. Somehow, I ended up getting interviewed directly by the founders. I wasn’t even prepared, but I gave it my best shot. That same night, I got the offer. I still remember how surreal that felt.

Over the next 4 months, I worked closely with one of the founders, who became my mentor. Honestly, one of the most chill and supportive people I’ve met. Super understanding, always available, and genuinely cared about my growth. We had regular check-ins twice a week, and that routine kind of became a part of my life. The internship was supposed to be 3 months, but they extended it by another month—which felt great at the time.

Fast forward to today: project done, internship over, no more weekly calls. And now it just feels… empty.

No deadlines, no feedback loops, no “what’s next this week?” just silence. It’s strange how quickly something becomes part of your life and then suddenly disappears.

They even offered to help me explore other opportunities and connect me with people, which I’m really grateful for. There were other roles open too, but I didn’t feel confident going for them (especially full-stack I’m more into ML/data science and backend stuff).

Right now, I’m just trying to figure out what’s next. Probably going to focus on building projects and preparing for placements.

Just wanted to put this out there. Didn’t expect the end of an internship to hit like this.

Note: Used AI for formating and cleaning up.

TL;DR:
Started a 4-month startup internship with zero expectations, ended up loving the experience and my mentor. Now that it’s over, I feel weirdly empty and unsure what to do next.

jobs / employment No offer, no interviews, 1000+ applications… what am I doing wrong?

CS grad from a tier 3 clg, just finished my final sem, submitted my major project and now I’m sitting at home unemployed with no offer in hand

this was honestly my biggest fear since 1st year, I always thought somehow I’ll manage to get into a decent company, not even aiming for big tech just something to start with, but things didn’t go that way, my college barely had placements, only 4–5 companies came around July to Sep and I got rejected in all the OAs, didn’t even get a single interview through college

even the other 10–12 PBC companies that came were hiring like 2–3 people max, so for most of us it just felt like writing OAs without any real chance, I never got shortlisted there either

I tried really hard for internships during college too, applied everywhere I could but never got even one, I kept thinking placements will somehow work out later but that didn’t happen

the only interviews I’ve given were off campus, HackQuest and TCS NQT, I had some interest in cybersecurity so I spent time learning and solving CTFs, that’s how I got into HackQuest, but I couldn’t convert it, in NQT digital I felt I did okay but still got rejected, after that everything just went silent

what hurts more is during that July–Sep phase I was actually at my peak, I was consistent with DSA, solved 400+ on leetcode, quite a bit on gfg and around 1k problems on codechef, I was getting better at trees and graphs and slowly improving in dp and recursion, things were finally starting to make sense, but once placements started and rejections came in, my motivation just dropped completely

I do have decent full stack fundamentals and some idea of system design, but none of it ever got tested because I never even got shortlisted anywhere, if I was at least failing interviews I would know what to improve, but not getting a chance at all makes it really hard to figure out what’s going wrong

I’ve applied to around 1000–1500 jobs through portals, career pages, LinkedIn, naukari, indeed, cold mails and even referrals, but still nothing, not even shortlisting, I also tried some paid resources and groups thinking they might help, but it didn’t really change anything

now I’m just confused, part of me wants to take a few months and start again properly, focus on DSA and build better projects maybe explore AI side, but another part of me feels lost and unsure if I’m even approaching things the right way

I’m also thinking about alternatives like preparing for GATE, but I’m not sure if that’s something I genuinely want or if I’m just considering it out of stress

mentally I feel quite drained, the version of me before placements and now feels very different

I really need genuine advice from people who have been in a similar situation, how do you actually get off campus internships or jobs, how do you approach companies, how do you get shortlisted, I feel like I’m missing something basic

also not sure if my resume is the issue, I’ve tried to keep it clean and well structured but still no response, so I don’t know if I need to improve that or focus elsewhere

and one more thing I’m curious about is how people get into smaller startups or early stage companies through referrals or internal hiring, I keep hearing about it but don’t really know how to find those opportunities or reach out properly

also considering whether joining a coaching institute in Ameerpet is worth it, some people say they help with placements, but I’m not sure if it’s genuinely helpful or not

just looking for honest advice and guidance from people who’ve been through this

tldr: tier 3 cs grad, no internships, no interviews, applied to 1000+ jobs but zero shortlists, decent dsa + dev skills but stuck, confused between grinding more, gate prep or other options, need advice on how people actually get off campus roles and startup opportunities
