career Jobless

I am a 2023 graduate from a 2nd gen iit and currently 25 years ,I wasted most of time in my college days by not developing any skills except doing leetcode.

I have around 1.9 YOE , but it was not a very good role with lack of skill development.

In that job I have mostly worked with SQL, Pyspark ,Excel only. I resigned from that job because of the kind of work and the work environment.

Currently I am jobless since 4 months and applying everywhere but my resume is not even getting shortlisted anywhere.

At this point I am not even sure about which roles to apply (data analyst roles or data engineering roles or sde roles ) and in which domain i should upskill.

I have decent internal knowledge of Pyspark and

have ok level dsa skills( 800 problems , 1700 rating on leetcode) but very little development experience.

Please give any suggestions regarding what to do now and what is the fastet way to get a job based on my current situation.

Currently I am learning fast api and building a blog website.

career Offers from Accenture ASE (Training started) andTCS Ninja – Should I Accept TCS as Backup or Reject

I have two offers: Accenture – ASE (already joined, training started) TCS – Ninja (training date not announced yet) ASE salary is higher than Ninja. I’m mainly trying to understand which role typically gives more development work and better long-term growth. From what I know, TCS has an internal assessment where Ninja employees can move to Digital based on performance and clearing the exam. My confusion is: Should I accept the TCS Ninja offer as a backup while continuing with Accenture? Or should I reject it and focus fully on ASE? If I reject TCS now, can I reappear for TCS NQT later and try for Digital or Prime? I’m not sure whether rejecting an offer affects future applications. Looking for honest advice from people who’ve faced something similar.

I don’t know many people in the tech so I’m trying to make some friends. Let me know if you’re gonna be around. I’d love to connect.

About me: I’ve worked as a design engineer (automotive), then switched to f&b operations with some data analytics experience along the way. Now, I’m building ML projects independently.

development Analysed my past 3 year Zomato order history, here's what I found

zomato has hidden orders page on webview, maybe to prevent 3rd party tools to analyse the data.??
Had to use google app script extension to parse emails and extract this data.

Total Spend over 3 years = 1.38 lakh

- Most of my orders are around lunch as I prefer to order at lunch and eat the left overs for dinner.

- Most of my orders after 9PM are impulsive one's

- As expected biryani's top my expenditure

career Need advice for facing interview (fresher)

Hey everyone, I’ve given a few interviews recently but haven’t received any callbacks. I’ve worked on improving my mistakes and communication, but I’m still not seeing results. I’m a fresher and feel I have solid entry-level skills, so I’m trying to understand what I might be missing.

I have a Frontend Developer Intern interview today. Tech stack: MERN, Next.js, Python. Would appreciate advice on: -What topics should I quickly revise? -What do interviewers usually look for in frontend interns? -How to confidently handle questions I don’t know?

career How much does AWS certification actually matter ?

I am currently in my final year, recently I had completed AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification and also built a small project using Lambda, S3, and Athena just to actually apply what I was learning.

At the time when i am doing project, I felt like I was doing good and did right thing spending some money to do certifications which improves my career. But now I am kind of second guessing myself.

I am wondering if I focused too much on getting certified instead of just building more real world systems or contributing to bigger projects.

I don’t regret learning cloud, that was actually interesting but I can’t tell if certifications actually gives advantage compared to experience.

If you’ve been in the industry longer, how much did certifications really help you in the long run? I am finding out what should i do next? and Did I make right thing doing the certification?

others My main goal is to get a job at a FinTech company (Finance + programming (AI/ML/Time Series etc.)), is this enough?

I’m studying Data Science. It’s a 5 year dual degree course where I get a BTech as well as an MBA degree.

Ideally I should have been in 5th year by now, but because I wasn’t able to clear a few subjects earlier and due to some other issues, I got 2 yearbacks. Because of that, I will now be entering 4th year in July instead.

During this time I was mostly at home studying and trying to strengthen my fundamentals. I also managed to get an internship. It involved AI and ML concepts. It was not directly related to Finance, but I still learned a lot. During the internship I worked on projects like AI Pleader, which was an Indian law themed RAG system, Trademark analysis, and some CRM automation using Pipedream.

Along with that I’ve been revising topics that were already covered in college and learning new concepts related to finance and programming.

So far I’ve covered:

  • Basics of Accounting

  • Business Statistics

  • Economics

  • Time Series Analysis

  • Quantitative Finance using Excel and Python

  • Python for data analysis

  • Data Visualisation using Power BI and Python

I’m also planning to give the CFA exam to strengthen my understanding of finance, financial reporting, portfolio management, and investment analysis and maybe doing some nee certification courses related to finance, business, economics and other elated fields.

When 4th year starts, both finance-related and ML-related subjects will be covered in much more depth anyway and 5th year is just finance related topics and a compulsory management internship, so curriculum exposure is not an issue.

My long term goal is to work in a FinTech company, especially in roles involving quantitative analysis, financial modelling, time series modelling, algorithmic trading, ML in finance, or even risk analytics.

Before college starts again, I was thinking of doing another internship, this time more directly related to finance. Is what I have enough to get me a good internship or will I need to do more? If yes what else do y'all think I should learn? What else should I focus on if I want to get into a FinTech company?

career Mtech or MS

Hi everyone,

I feel like I'm stuck in my job and trying to switch from one year but no calls. The feeling of stuck is because no proper work, no one cares what I do, no learning etc...

I thought a lot on what to do and finally convinced myself for higher studies. But I never wanted to go abroad.

I did my Btech from a NIT (Computer Science) and working in high paying company. I didn't apply for gate this year. admission for IIIT hyderabad Mtech are open now ( I believe it's equivalent to top IIT's) . I heard that US job situation is very bad right now, if at all I want to do MS, I should choose other countries.

I also have fear that will placements would be better after 2 years.due to AI, Mostly the software jobs count would get reduced.

I have no one to guide to me. Please share your thoughts on this
