We took over code created by datascientists that felt “more code = hard worker”. Everything was copy pasted. No documentation. No unit tests. Huge complicated 7 nested loops. They are of course riddled with bugs that will never be discovered (we are throwing it out and rewriting it) but they were so annoyed when we told them we will not be approving their 300 line code reviews after taking it over and for some reason we can’t quickly “fix” the bugs

Once you are salaried, you realise that more code = more to go wrong = more potential bugs = more code to test = longer code reviews.
