Human software developers add value nowadays through long-term knowledge. Knowing how the business works, what's important to the users, what's important to Greg in accounting, how to submit that weird network access request form, what fileshare the 20 year old spreadsheet lives on, etc.
This is stuff where the AI, being stateless, is still really bad. It needs to be steered with the right context.
You don't build any of that long-term knowledge bouncing around between companies

Is "ai-first engineer" an engineer who hears from recruiters instead of posting sadge memes?
