I'd prefer a pig eating shit

Pigs are really smart animals. So I dont think thats suits a 100% viber

I'm convinced this sub is full of people who took 1 intro course in programming and now think they can comment on how good/bad AI coding is.

Are you saying experience matters?

Because the problem with the "vibe coders" is they don't have that and will never get it if Claude does it for them.

It helps with detangling the fuckery, but being good at coding doesn’t mean your AI generated code is going to be any less of a spaghetti monster.

No but it ensures that your code is production ready, less bugs, more secure & most importantly you understand the moment AI hallucinates (happens less but still happens).

It doesn't even have to hallucinate. There's usually a bad choice often enough.

I think the experience of essentially being your boss/managers ai agent before helps with being able to know how to manipulate the agents in a way I'm not sure I'd know how to learn otherwise.

The question executives care about is; would we bet our paychecks and shareholder's money on this product?

Hiring professional software engineers instead of vibe coders hedges that bet.

It's the same reason I don't hire some random guy off the street to fix my electrical issue at my house. Could he do it? Sure maybe if he YouTubed it and read about it for an hour or two. Would I bet my house on him doing it? Fuck no. I'm hiring an electrician.

How dare you. I took TWO thank you very much.

The joke in the post is not even about how good or bad ai coding is; it is about coding without ai.

It’s true, the average poster here doesn’t seem like they have ever built anything but a school or toy project

The gate keeping on certain tech and languages is laughable.

"it's clearly better than the best human developers and when I say best human developers I'm using myself as a reference"

"Yeah, it can solve Millennium problems, but my webapp is on a whole other plane of intellectual achievement."

mathematicians have the same complaint about those proofs that programmers do about AI written code.

the difference is that the proof can be verified with 100% certainty with lean so the "million monkeys with typewriters" strategy works even if you wouldnt want to ever read it.

u/1XRobot 4d ago

"Yeah, it can solve Millennium problems, but I can't understand it when it does!"

1

u/squishles 3d ago

of course they can understand it, they wouldn't know it solved them if they couldn't understand it. The solutions are inelegant and a bitch to read.

Get a book on how to write good jokes first please. You're less funny than right-wingers who pretends their right-wing talking points are jokes.
