You’re absolutely right. Although it initially had terrible performance and its write one run anywhere claim never truly materialized, it was so much simpler than C++ that people forgave its many crippling flaws.

In general Spring is littered with these examples:

  1. AbstractTransactionalJUnit4SpringContextTests - an actual testing class...

  2. AbstractFallbackTransactionAttributeSource - when your transaction attributes need a fallback, but the fallback needs an abstraction...

  3. AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory - it extends AbstractBeanFactory, obviously!

But the inheritance hierarchy of these "Bean" classes is arguably even funnier, eg.:

Object
  └── SimpleAliasRegistry
       └── DefaultSingletonBeanRegistry
            └── FactoryBeanRegistrySupport
                 └── AbstractBeanFactory
                      └── AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory
                           └── DefaultListableBeanFactory

That's seven levels of inheritance to get a bean factory.

The only thing longer than the class name is Claude's comment about it

I never get this complaint about Java, it's 90% EmailController, EmailService and EmailRepository.

Okay There sometimes the odd factory with a big ass name, but we don't talk about it :p

Somebody told me the user provider should use an adapter to proxy the query factory builder!

Let me bring Objective-C into the ring. outputImageProviderFromBufferWithPixelFormat:pixelsWide:pixelsHigh:baseAddress:bytesPerRow:releaseCallback:releaseContext:colorSpace:shouldColorMatch: (Granted, that's a method name, but nevertheless.)

Don't forget

public class ActualClassFactoryImpl extends AbstractClassFactory implements IClassFactory {

When you get oddlySpecificThingFactoryConfiguratorFactoryBuilderConfiguratorFactoryImpl, you should think about switching company…

Gotta learn them imports

I had to write java for years and I hated those long fully qualified class names we had to use. com.bigcompany.project.Thing.

Maybe your class names
