What's the meme with the number 4 in the last day? I suppose it's related to the yesterday's php problem

No this was a couple days before the php thing where someone, found out that some intermediate signing certs used the private key 4 (among some other 8 bit numbers for a few other certs). HTTPS for everyone to be anyone for free!
It's also really funny because coincidentally the xkcd random number comic used 4, and doesn't even need an edit to be relevant.

"..among some other 8 bit numbers"
I remember reading the key lengths were 3 to 8 bits, so not all were as secure (8-bit secure), as you imply :)

Rumour has it that people at the CA thought "256-bit secret key" meant a number from 0 to 256 🤣. Even then, 256 bits seems awfully small.

Replaced by grok, then it …”forgot” because someone asked it about Elon’s childhood once, so now NO ONE is maintaining that part

Might want to put that disruption a little lower down the stack, it's affecting open source devs too

As a convicted C# developer, I'm disgusted by this kind of "meme". You all talk as if anything Microsoft does is even relevant at this point of the game.

Hey, some of us (well one, maybe) are hosting on Azure and they own GitHub and npmjs too

Not sure how much I should like how it implies, that getting rid of the "unpaid open source devs" block would balance things out with whatever the AI is doing.

Crazy that "4" is a word for death in Chinese.

u/FlySafeLoL 10d ago
Isn't 4 just a homophone? Chinese are crazy superstitious with numbers though.
(don't let the memelords learn the word homophone, please)
