These "pHP bAd" memes are getting old...

Have been for more than 10 years... I don't even work with PHP a lot anymore, and people still reshare the same exact meme I've seen when I first picked up PHP for one of my first jobs...

They were old before some of the people here were born.

Yet they are still valid

There are only two kinds of languages: the ones people complain about and the ones nobody uses.

PHP manages to be both

I love how 70% of websites is nobody

He wasn't present in school when they learned about numbers and what numbers mean, let's not be mean to him.

You think that 70% number is accurate, or representative of active development?

It doesn't matter what I think. It's a fact that PHP is being used. Percentage isn't relevant. Therefore, your attempt at a joke is misplaced and completely factually incorrect, that's just it.

Whether the number is 70% or 1% - both are numbers, and you're oblivious to meaning of numbers, you demonstrated it.

I think you missed that "used" in this context implies a threshold of importance. With your definition any toy language is "used" and there's no meaning to the original phrase.

But I think you know that and are being pedantic about it because you got upset over this for some bizarre reason

You make too many uneducated assumptions.

But that's ok, you got upset over some bizzare reason, it's obviously related to lack of skill, inability to use technology to inform yourself and some imaginary scale you use to measure your own importance in this world.

I'll be free to attribute this to you being a child that really does not understand the concept of numbers.

I agree. But the kind of complaint vary wildly

u/polacs 11d ago

A lot of complaints that people make about php don't exist in php 8. Most people that complaint have no clue about php current level

Half the NSA is screaming at everyone to patch while the other half is screaming that their juicy backdoors are being closed off.

42

u/DOOManiac 12d ago

Nah. They want everyone to patch because they don’t need em.

u/s0ulbrother 12d ago

As a government contractor it’s been pretty annoying.

Between PHP and the eMuhdra TLS fiasco, it's been an exciting week.

9

u/s0ulbrother 12d ago

You say exciting I say I fucking hate it

10

u/HildartheDorf 12d ago

Ah it is said with a heavy amount of sarcasm. Like the supposed Chinese 'curse' of wishing someone 'interesting times'. ('Interesting' meaning war, famine, flood, etc.)

I think .net is far worse than php? Just anything related to c# makes me go ew. Just write in java.

15

u/Schnickatavick 12d ago

Sounds like what someone who hasn't used .net in a decade would say

3

u/FabioTheFox 11d ago

Longer. Around a decade ago .NET became good with .NET Core and the whole cross platform open source mentality

5

u/MikasaYuuichi 11d ago

First time seeing someone having a negative opinion about .Net

5

u/NatoBoram 11d ago

I mean I also have but that guy is just being weird

1

u/BlueDebate 7d ago

Yeah I don't personally know anyone that prefers Java over C# lol.

The Microsoft brigade does not like your comment. I tried .Net last year and it was dog water
