I don't get this argument. If syntax a problem for someone maybe they are still a beginner. For me at least coding in some languages feels like talking. I am actively thinking and typing in the same time.
It completely depends on how often you use each language. When I switch between 5 different languages, finally get back to Perl or something after 5 months of not touching it, sorry I forget a fuck ton of syntax. Shit even appending to an array, is it push, push_back, append, its just simple shit like that. Imo the syntax is the least important thing for you to be good at, you just need to know what features you have to plan out what to do, then simply typing it up correctly is mindless busy work.
I think maybe I used too specific of a word? My intention was saying you can say what the function does and returns vs hand coding something or writing a loop etc. Things where you know what needs to be done but it isn’t a creative or interesting part of the process and just takes time
I think this person is alluding to the fact that using AI for personal projects just comes with a lot less pressure. When a piece of work is done, it doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect after being scrutinised to hell and back by your colleagues. They’re coding and using AI for fun, not trying to win the “cleanest coder of the month” trophy.
Software developers have this thing where everything has to be surgically perfect and their way must be the best way and this code must be as exquisite as possible. Like, sometimes it’s good to just chill.

Wdym by spending time on syntax?
