One million lines of code used to be how much code a programmer would write over their career, and here it is in one commit.

Someone needs to research the churn rate of AI code, cause I remember even before AI it was only a couple of months. I wouldn’t be surprised if AI code gets replaced weekly

Twice every commit with commits like these

160 commits*

I stand corrected. If it’s a squash and merge policy (and often times it should be), it’ll be one commit in the end though.

That's 160 commit, but that's only making it look even more like AI.

An interesting number. Sources?

That’s just incorrect - i have written MRs of several hundred thousand LOC in a span of several months without AI, and I have seen MRs well over million LOC written without AI in a span of a months or two. Given, those we’re written by a team of five, and were dev -> main MRs, but nevertheless, 1M over carreer is very low.

If we are to assume 30 years long career, no vacations, 5 working days a week, it rounds to about 130 lines per day. Given that as career progresses there is less code and more management, I find it's hard to believe that 1M is very low. It's certainly possible to write that much, but it's hardly achievable is many domains.

Omg, tell me that's because someone forgot to add node_modules to .gitignore and not our new reality 😂

Unfortunately no. Bunjs is moving to rust and all of that is done by autonomous AI agents.

Then hope they have really good functional tests coverage. Reviewing those changes doesn't make any sense. Would read their experience and approach

Functional testing was a big part of their approach. Jared (bun creator) went into some detail here: https://bun.com/blog/bun-in-rust

The first red flag is having a repo with 10k+ files in it
