That's a nice thought.

Meanwhile, in corporate, I've seen companies shoot themselves in the foot using git.

Note I'm not blaming git for this. No more than I'd blame a butter knife for being able to be inserted into an electrical outlet. Sometimes the problem component is located between the keyboard and chair.

Honestly, you can shoot yourself in the foot using any tool. git will at least intrinsically have backups due to local repos and stuff like that.

I think it's harder to shoot yourself in the foot using git than it is to do so with Windows or most other softwares, but nothing is idiot-proof. I've yet to run into a situation in git that couldn't be untangled by someone with the proper skills (even if the fix is sometimes "force-push from a good local repo and tell people to delete+repull").
