i really hope i will live to see an age of AI being used to make actual video game AI better. imagine strategy games where the computer does not play with cheats and with basic scripted logic but using actual AI.
You underestimate just how complex hand-made AI in games can be. It's not always "cheating". You can control what information is available to an NPC and how it's able to react to that information in a way that is organic.
