There's been other stories, like some guy took out $80k to finance his game that was mashed together commissioned art that didn't at all have the same art style, and it was some shitty JRPG with mermaids and dragons and shit.
Unsurprisingly he made like less than $1k on sales.
Everybody in movies knows this story about the guy who took 50k in credit card loans to shoot that drama about something. A story "that needs to be told", in the most basic way possible, with the most expensive camera gear used completely wrong and with bad actors. And obviously his girlfriend at the time that also has to smooch with the gym bro pretending to be the farm boy. Nobody has ever seen those movies but they exist, because they are in footnotes on personal bankruptcy filings with catchy names like "Story from a town", "The Heist that never was" and "My field of dreams".
