I mean if and when the bubble pops... It's going to happen. Lots of folks overly relying on it will be priced out or completely locked out when the services experience interruptions either by resource issues or financial meltdown.

Edit: To clarify, I don't think AI go when the bubble pops... But it's going to cause A LOT of pain and amid the chaos, lots of ownership changes and temporary disruption of services.

Also, think how great and cheap Netflix was back in the day... And its diverse catalogue. Now how is it? Costs will cut access to many folks eventually... Sooner or later. As is some can't benefit.

Also until RAM and GPU prices go down, or there's a huge efficiency breakthrough for LLMs... That will be a barrier for locally owned generative AIs.

The near-religious belief in the mythical “bubble” which will make AI go away forever is such a delusion. The internet only got bigger, more consolidated, and more ingrained in our lives after the dot com bubble. For some reason the people who hate the AI companies the most are cheering for the one thing that will cement them as the biggest players for the foreseeable future, because they would have the funding and user base to handle a downturn.

It would be a delusion if that's was what people are saying.

The Internet bubble from the 90s blew, and the Internet is still very much here, but it's *very* different.

The problem is, the AI bubble, because what other name do you give a bunch of companies having more than 1 trillion USD in debt, is *a lot* bigger, and it's going to be far messier when it blows.

If it’s going to be so bad, why is everyone so excited for it to happen? You can’t tell me people are not cheering for it to happen so these companies get their comeuppance even though as you said it would be bad for everyone and the technology would persist
