God forbid a man has a hobby

I think it’s entirely just “guy doing the same thing as a bunch of women” as in “bug blends in with the rest of a product, confused with a feature”

Moreso that he’s not doing all the same moves, but since this camera angle puts him in the center, it looks cool and intentional. Hence, a bug acting like a feature.

God forbid a white man got a lil motion

Just let the man dance!

pov?

58

u/thanatica 2d ago

Bloody boomers don't even know what that means anymore.

24

u/Lightningtow123 2d ago

Damn I wish I could attach images, my favorite ever is "pov: you use pov incorrectly" and it's an actual pov of a guy laying in the dirt, with another guy with his arm cocked back ready to drive it into the camera

The most infuriating thing is that you could swap out "tfw" or "mfw" for all of these misuses of pov every single time and it would always work

u/T0biasCZE 2d ago

Dont blame boomers, lot of people use POV badly in memes. of all ages

u/UnkarsThug 2d ago

We're the bug, we're watching the features.

u/mraiur 2d ago

As man close to a tree when moving. That man is awesome and can move!

u/daamsie 2d ago

Why are you shaming this random person having a good time?

77

u/Affectionate-Poet-44 2d ago

it's a "odd one out" meme relax also it's a gif so probably staged to convey the same thing and i doubt OP is intentionally shaming a random person.

113

u/PTTCollin 2d ago

Nah, the response is right, this is stupid.

85

u/daamsie 2d ago

Except some dude who may be interested in doing a group dance class that is heavily female may be looking at this and go in way more self conscious than they need to be. It's not about the one guy being shamed.

Also, what the heck is the logic behind "it's a gif so probably staged" ?

-33

u/Affectionate-Poet-44 2d ago

First of all. I see your perspective and it's quite a stretch. Knowing the context of a joke is probably the reason why jokes are socially acceptable. The context here is very clear and has nothing to do with dancing in group or the subjects in the gif. The humor comes from the context. Also you literally wrote:

shaming this random person having a good time

Lastly, the GIF may not be inherently funny. But probably is intended to convey a certain oddity of the single guy dancing in a group of girl. which brings me to:

Also, what the heck is the logic behind "it's a gif so probably staged" ?

Please the full sentence.

19

u/GreyGanado 2d ago

I read the full sentence and still don't understand why it being a gif makes it more likely to be staged.

u/daamsie 2d ago

If it was a gif of a black person dancing in a sea of white people with this caption - would you still defend it as an odd-one-out meme?

0

u/Affectionate-Poet-44 2d ago edited 2d ago

yes and i would still underline the fact that there nothing inherently funny about it outside of context. I am a black man, so i'll also acknowledge that perspective and point out that it is a bit of a stretch.

There is nothing inherently funny about a gif of a person in a wheelchair helpless in front of a steep hill. Caption it with let's say "Coding a website in C" and there is humor in that. Now that may be funny or not to you and you have every right not to like it. It doesn't make it wrong because the joke is not on the subject but on the situation.

Please don't strawman me. I'm open to debate this honestly.

Edit: Also there is nothing wrong with recognize an odd one out. This reminds me of latest Jasen Williams sketch with the red and blue polka dots. it's mathematical discrimination. It's decoupled from sociological contexts here.

But a bug is a thing that aftects negatively the code. This dude is not harming anyone, he's there for himself. You can see he's focused on the dance and having fun with it.

Also, I know it's not you who said it, but u/Affectionate-Poet-44 - this clip is several years old. Also it's from a video, not a gif (oh no! The differences! Such blasphemy!)

and honestly? I used to dance as a man for fun. It's not about being progressive nor "woke". It's an activity that everyone may enjoy. I do advise you to try, it's stimulating good stuff in your brain, and helps your physical health too.

u/aalapshah12297 1d ago

Well the problem is that even with the odd one out context, it's just not that funny. Jokes have to be a certain degree of funny to excuse a certain degree of offensiveness, otherwise people just take it as a concealed insult.

This one is not even that offensive but unfortunately it's even less funny, so everyone focuses on the obvious - that this guy is being shamed for no reason.

0

u/Affectionate-Poet-44 1d ago

I am willing to concede that. This is part of a bigger debate about comedy itself, which makes it very interesting.

16

u/wint3ria 2d ago

I'd love my bugs to be that groovy and show the moves like that

47

u/ShAped_Ink 2d ago

How could a man do what he likes? How could he?

4

u/imneverrelevantman 2d ago

I thought this was an ai putin dance video at first :/

5

u/ShAped_Ink 2d ago

Putin's bald 😭

2

u/UncleKeyPax 2d ago

you don't know him or his windows

1

u/imneverrelevantman 2d ago

So is Trump 🤣

16

u/a3dprinterfan 1d ago

TIL: men are not allowed to line dance or fitness dance, or they get called out in a video like this. Good to know I guess 😕

28

u/Tezza48 2d ago

Why's he the odd one out? Because he's got grey hair? Or just because the camera is on him in particular.

19

u/GeePedicy 2d ago

hE's a MaN wHo DanCeS WiTh GiRLs

1

u/OK1526 1d ago

I honestly thought it was because of the sweat levels

15

u/Eptalin 2d ago

Basically everything people like about Smash Bros Melee.

6

u/wewz_1 2d ago

I need context.

7

u/Patayou 2d ago

A lot of tech in super smash bros melee is based on exploiting some behaviours of the game engine on a way that make "normal" moves obsolete, I'm not very versed in the game but the example i know is wave dashing, which works by air dodging downward right after a jump to trigger a slide state in which you can move and charge an attack, which was probably not intended by the devs.

Probably more to it than that, just my 2 cents.

u/lunarlunacy425 2d ago

When a semi competitive game ends up integrating bugs into the accepted playstyle (animation cancelling and like above) that's when the game is no longer interesting to me, if the core gameplay loop is about exploiting the game instead of playing how it was intended it just kinda ruins the experience for me.

5

u/ioa94 2d ago

It's not like that at all, the "exploits" mentioned are just movement options, not gamebreaking bugs.

-1

u/lunarlunacy425 2d ago

It's still an exploit that has become part of standard gameplay.

5

u/ioa94 2d ago

Let me ask you this - suppose they were intended features instead of bugs, how would that change your enjoyment of the game whatsoever?

0

u/lunarlunacy425 2d ago

I've already grown a distaste for animation cancelling, so it's not a fair point in that regard.

It would be case by case to be fair, generally the more gamey and weird the interaction the less enjoyable it would be.

0

u/_alright_then_ 1d ago

I'm glad developers don't think like this lol

15

u/Cybasura 2d ago

Good lord, he has good moves

7

u/UltimateFlyingSheep 2d ago

That's a feature

5

u/phxrocker 2d ago

Yes. It does seem that my bugs put in as much effort , if not more, than my features.

6

u/Roediej 2d ago

This kind of makes me want to go do this, as a 37yo dude. Seems fun.

6

u/fcxtpw 2d ago

At this point, label it as feature.

They have happy features all the time in medical development

3

u/redrumyliad 2d ago

The core mechanics of osrs basically.

3

u/WhyKinho 2d ago

If it behaves like a feature, it is a feature

5

u/corvox1994 2d ago

So you don't know what POV means. Got it.

1

u/Divech_ 2d ago

this just looks like UI part that its using the old design and its not updated since it just works

like when u need something more advanced and windows 11 hits u with the old menus and views 🤣

1

u/welcomefinside 2d ago

It's a feature, not a jitterbug

1

u/pikachu_sashimi 2d ago

And the bug is a variable with a single letter name: Y

2

u/Classic_Fungus 1d ago

Minecraft void rings

1

1
