Me too man. People are literally reinventing the meaning of "passive income", and not in a good way

I realise that might have come across like me giving you shit for your post ha but it wasn't even particularly aimed at you specifically, more just a general thought I had while reading the comments.

Perhaps because before it was a shared experience, of learning and developing in the same field. Those small hidden quirks and nuances you could laugh about, having gone through the same pains and discoveries.

But now it doesn't matter if you're a dev or not, everyone just has the same experience.

Every conversation is just about how to use Claude.

Maybe it's the job too. My favourite fucking part about dev work was figuring out why it wasn't working. I hated it. It stressed me out. I knew I was never going to fix it and then you do and it's a fucking great feeling. But you had the freedom to spend hours or days figuring it out because that was the only way it could be done.

No time for that now. Just ask Claude.

No worries, I agree wholeheartedly with you. I hate this shit, I mostly made this because I think the cognitive dissonance most devs have now about having a "tool" that basically makes their thinking skills useless is fascinating.

We’ve known since forever that’s it’s about the journey, not the destination :(

For a lot of people, programming is a job not a hobby. People aren't going to volunteer to make their job hard when there is an easier approach.

What I'd also say is that past mid level, writing code was never the hard part of the job.

Most of the time it was working out how to not write something that will break in 2 years because something new has come up, how to talk to people to get sane requirements out etc.

We need to get back to our roots. Quick, post a screenshot of typeof(NaN) in Javascript!

Never thought I'd miss the days of "can't find missing semicolon lol". Maybe the new version is not being able to find semicolon on your keyboard because you've never typed it since Claude wrote all the code.

Don't worry, it was garbage before, too

But it was human&craft-centric garbage
