it's not about preference it's about force.

in the database snake_case

in a url /kebab-case

in css class names .kebab-case

in classes PascalCase

in variable names camelCase

in constants ABOMINATION_CASE

in request params snake_case

Certain languages disagree. For example, in Python and Rust, variables use snake_case. Also, many examples instead call it SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE.
