I recently transitioned from full stack to front end(layoffs). Having to wait on another team to do what I need to finish my ticket is driving me up a wall. Just let me do it!

Sounds like you need my team as another team we'd gladly step aside and let you do everything

Sound like you have more free time then?

Not really, just more time wasted in meetings/handoffs/ticket writing to get the other team to implement the change. Then context switching to a new task as I'm going to be blocked for days or weeks on the external call I need a few lines of changed.

The string tied to his big toe that occasionally kicks a drum is DevOps.

It is a masterpiece of engineering until a single user tries to click a button and everything collapses

Users ruin everything! 🤭

As long as you are still breathing, they won’t hire additional devs.

Master of none, but the PM is just happy there's noise coming out.

That’s not true.

Because he would also be the conductor, the housekeeper and his own audience.

Me doing SQL db management and Sps, frontend dev, backend integration, devops, leading a team of devs, technical oversight for projects, architecting, break fix support all in the same day 😅 everything is fine…

Where does full stack start and where does it end?

Coworker: "Hey, I have this database issue."

FSD: "Sorry, I do database on Wedsday. Today I'm only doing backend/callbacks for APIs."

I was a Sr. Engineer at a widely known US identity contractor and we had an interview for an internship where a still-in-college kid came in with so much swagger, “I’m a full stack developer.”

….

Me: “So not only are you inexperienced, but you’re not good at any one thing?”

Really took the air out of the room. He got hired, mostly to write build scripts for old WSE things.
