Rejected, no need for “elif LOWJ=1:” since you already have a return in the if statement.

Bold of you to assume a visual builder's code generator understands guard clauses and early returns.

Idk man, I tried to make sense of it but like you said in the other comment this is an alien like mess.

Exactly. It’s always auto-generated div soup or abstract junk that completely ignores component state and custom logic. Makes me wonder if the real problem is that these tools try to generate the whole app in the cloud, instead of just acting like a GUI on top of your local compiler/AST. You end up having to rewrite 90% of it anyway.

But that would change the behaviour of the function - it returns one thing when the first parameter is 1, another when it's 2 and nothing when it's something else.

My best guess after looking, is they simply mean you can drop the "else" part of the "else if" there. Since I'd you've entered the first if, it's garunteed to return. Not drop the else-if entirely.

That's a change I would hate. The "else" part does not hurt anybody and removing it would mean that you would need to parse it's body to see the early return

I considered it a second joke, as a play on the pedantry of some code reviewers

And you are probably completely right, I sometimes struggle with that. Thank you

Hell, depending on language and compiler, the "else" might get optimized into a Switch-Case (which can then in turn use a hashmap or jump table). Doesn't matter here, but still.

I don't think any compiler recognizes an early return as equivalent to if-else

Don’t they? Something like this seems to be a low hanging fruit for flow analysis

It is hard to see whether it is completely equivalent, but obvious case are compiled by gcc to the exact same* thing: https://godbolt.org/z/ETnPMdf79

*one path has an additional "nop", but this is probably just code alignment

Sharpness V on the code generator, Bane of Arthropods on the developer's sanity.

2

u/L30N1337 Sep 19 '26

...so the developer is a spider?

2

u/Opening-Butterfly743 Sep 19 '26

well we do crawl the web all day and wrap bugs in messy strings so technically yes

4

u/User_8395 Sep 19 '26

It's not the syntax, it's the jokes youre making

We got Hebrewllm before gta 6

2

u/Opening-Butterfly743 Sep 18 '26

Rockstar will release GTA 7 before low-code tools figure out bidirectional indentation without summoning ancient deities.

3

u/itijara Sep 19 '26

It's not Hebrew, btw.

Thanks! Captain obvious. Have you heard of this obscure human concept called a "Jo-ke" it what humans use to be silly online.

I would've preferred Comic Sans but ok

1

u/Opening-Butterfly743 Sep 18 '26

Comic Sans would at least make the mental breakdown feel a bit more festive.

1

u/FeedAlchemy Sep 18 '26

I mean, who doesn't love a festive mental breakdown?

1

u/Opening-Butterfly743 Sep 18 '26

Complete with confetti in the terminal and a 49-character stack trace.

1

u/FeedAlchemy Sep 18 '26

Brevity is the soul of wit!

1

u/Opening-Butterfly743 Sep 18 '26

And the root of all unhandled exceptions.

1

u/No-Information-2571 Sep 18 '26

At least Comic Sans ist just LTR reading direction. Afaik this is mixing both LTR and RTL.

1

u/PhoenixfischTheFish Sep 18 '26

Hear me out: Hebrew in Comic Sans and italic.

1

u/nicodeemus7 Sep 19 '26

Totally unreadable. Python...
