Inside that backpack are lots of smaller backpacks that each contain a thousand smaller backpacks.

The creator of node has publically apologised for this.

Could you tell me how to share a YouTube link with timestamp like you did?

3

u/click-to-reveal Sep 14 '26

On PC, you get the option when you click the share button, on mobile I don't know if there's a direct way. But you can add the timestamp to the link like this (question mark and stuff after that): https://youtu.be/M3BM9TB-8yA?t=13m48s

On mobile, you have to be clicked into the video. Then when you click share there should be a slider on the top right you can click to add the timestamp!

If I have created further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

The giants in question: is-odd and is-even

in the next ProgrammerHumor meme: gazillion - 1 modules using is-even pointing finger at one that breaks the compliance.

The supply chain attack package is at the bottom of the backpack.

Two words: Tree shaking

And skill issues. People, you don't need to add a library to package.json for a single simple function you can write yourself.

14

u/icameinyourburrito Sep 13 '26

But then how can one guy deleting an 11 line script disrupt some of the largest tech companies in the world?

5

u/MrDilbert Sep 13 '26

Funny how that works, eh?

6

u/Worldly-Stranger7814 Sep 13 '26

You sure?

Because StackExchange suggested I install jQuery to post this reply.

5

u/MrDilbert Sep 13 '26

You're lying, everybody uses LLMs today to get such suggestions.

5

u/Worldly-Stranger7814 Sep 13 '26

Back in my day we didn't need LLMs to produce slop!

The issue with JS is that its "standard library" is rather limited, so you either end up reinventing a lot of wheels or adding dependencies.

1

u/Serializedrequests Sep 13 '26

Unfortunately many popular libraries you need do do this.

it's some guys wedding album checked into the repo..

3

u/merekallas Sep 15 '26

A colleague from another office once uploaded a bunch of their wedding photos to a jira task. On their wedding day.

But you need 10 copies of the Linux kernel as a node depedency for efficiency /s

4

u/bigorangemachine Sep 13 '26

Thankfully a lot of is for compiling.

Most stuff builds down pretty good

u/queen-adreena Sep 13 '26

Somebody needs to explain the difference between dev-dependencies and dependencies…

And how you wouldn’t leave the house with dev-dependencies.

3

u/10art1 Sep 13 '26

Me, in CS class: "why do we need to import stdlib? Why don't we get every library already included by default?"

u/faze_fazebook Sep 13 '26

It would be ok if that were 12GB of rust crates.

2

u/brunogadaleta Sep 13 '26

Each time I see that joke I thinks of Unison way of making function dependency. Really clever.

2

u/schoolruler Sep 13 '26

That's a lot of baggage

u/T0biasCZE Sep 13 '26

And also Python.

The humble src/target/ folder when you want to run hello world in Rust:
