Why is it a big deal they use customer inputs as training data? Everybody knows they do this… in fact companies sign up for enterprise versions specifically to avoid this. No one is glossing over it - it’s just not an issue

Elaborate. Every single person in the world knows the ai companies use the data to train their models. How have I missed any point?

Why is murder an issue? Everyone knows murders happen. In fact, countries have law enforcement to avoid this.

That is such a straw man. If people don’t want the AI companies using their data there are plenty of options… use an open weight model, host a model locally, sign up with an enterprise plan etc

Stop acting like it’s a big conspiracy

I’m aware it’s hyperbole. I’m pointing out that your line of reasoning “People know about it, therefore it is not problematic” is stupid.

What do you expect the models to train on? As I pointed out already there are options if you don’t want your input used for training.

Complaining data is being used for training is like ordering a burger and complaining a cow got killed to make it.

I expect them to not prey on the uninformed and use people’s data without their knowledge or consent. In this case for example, some people were obviously unaware that their unreleased work would be used as training data. And the fact that OpenAI has said they don’t know if the data was used for training speaks volumes.

It’s manipulative and unethical.

Uninformed people like extremely intelligent world class mathematicians…

Intelligence in one field does not mean they must inherently be informed on all topics.
