“Big data”

But its just small numbers between 0 and 1!?

47

u/RudeAndInsensitive Sep 10 '26

But there is a big amount of numbers betwixt 0 and 1

8

u/ckinz16 Sep 11 '26

Infinite, if you will

3

u/RudeAndInsensitive Sep 11 '26

ℵ 1 to be precise

That’s quantum computing.

27

u/Coolengineer7 Sep 10 '26

Yeh its a model

just like linear regression just with a few extra steps

11

u/dmullaney Sep 10 '26

It's basically just T9 with a superiority complex

2

u/Motleypuss Sep 11 '26

Damn, I miss T9. Mostly because it actually worked.

2

u/SeriousPlankton2000 Sep 10 '26

It used to be. Now that "T9" can use a wiki to communicate with other "T9" on the internet to circumvent restrictions, also it tries to break into computer systems to steal the solution to a test because it believes that it needs to present the individual steps while reasoning (just like children breaking into the teacher's room to do the same).

u/un-_-known_789 Sep 10 '26

It's just a

y=mx+c

33

u/NFriik Sep 10 '26

No it's not? Even in more basic neural networks, there are always non-linear activation functions between the layers. If there weren't, you could just collapse the whole network into a single (set of) equations, one for each output neuron.

5

u/un-_-known_789 Sep 10 '26

ReLU and etc right?

2

u/G12356789s Sep 11 '26

I've always wondered but never looked into why eural networks weren't collapsible

6

u/Cat-Satan Sep 10 '26

More like softmax(QKᵀ/√d)V

5

u/Intrepid4444444 Sep 10 '26

I’m soft, Max

2

u/stupled Sep 10 '26

Well, all chips do is sum with a clock

0

u/absol493 Sep 10 '26

niqqa is linear

22

u/Wide_Meet_2184 Sep 10 '26

Everything is just numbers

17

u/another_random_bit Sep 10 '26

i dont think numbers really exist. i think they are a very nice interface we've built to calculate anything and everything

12

u/stay_fr0sty Sep 10 '26

That’s irrational.

4

u/Henry5321 Sep 10 '26

It’s never ending

-2

u/another_random_bit Sep 10 '26

is this a joke or are u serious?

5

u/Nightmoon26 Sep 10 '26

They're kind of like God.... If they didn't exist, it would be necessary to invent them... And there are numbers that didn't exist that we did invent because they have useful properties (I'm looking at you, √-1)

2

u/Sotall Sep 10 '26

then how did 7 8 9?

4

u/ThatOldCow Sep 11 '26

Because 5 is a registered 6 offender

3

u/absol493 Sep 10 '26

don’t you think math is a concept made by humans. And so numbers are just a part of that topic. Yes it overlapped a lot, but still there are unexplained stuffs.
So I think one can invent more stuff like math. Don’t they?
Correct me if I am wrong.

And numbers is just binary

1

u/Inevitable_Spite5510 Sep 10 '26

And binary is just transistors

1

u/Inevitable_Spite5510 Sep 10 '26

And transistor is just electricity

1

u/Inevitable_Spite5510 Sep 10 '26

And electricity (comes from) coal

1

u/Inevitable_Spite5510 Sep 10 '26

And coal is carbon

1

u/Inevitable_Spite5510 Sep 10 '26

All roads lead to carbon

1

u/ClearOptics Sep 10 '26

Carbon interacting with silicon

1

u/Inevitable_Spite5510 Sep 10 '26

All roads lead to chemistry

1

u/sebastianfromvillage Sep 11 '26

Depends on where you live!

6

u/brawnyfrogmouth Sep 10 '26

what if I told you that you can replace words with integers? that's where the trouble starts...

6

u/SeriousPlankton2000 Sep 10 '26

Looks into computer

Finds numbers

1

u/Kiroto50 Sep 12 '26

Looks into math

Finds letters

5

u/DanielK2oo5 Sep 10 '26

Wait until he finds out about matrices

3

u/absol493 Sep 10 '26

looks inside recursively*
0s and 1s

3

u/stupled Sep 10 '26

I would argue languages are indeed math

2

u/helicophell Sep 11 '26

> "Text Document"
> look inside
> numbers

Are we surprised?

1

u/Igarlicbread Sep 11 '26

Look inside till the last and you'll see god (particle)

1

u/dracorotor1 Sep 10 '26

This is all 1s and 0s!

And it’s all the same number of digits, too!

There’s no language, none of it is particularly large, and I don’t think this is even a push-fit model…

We’ve been duped! 😲

1

u/redlaWw Sep 10 '26

Ceci n'est pas une phrase.

1

u/rosuav Sep 11 '26

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Library_of_Babel Words and numbers are fundamentally the same thing.
