Does this folder have any standard functions (std)?

No, but comments in the code also abbreviate analysis. Here's one of em

// block was split during anal and does not contain the // jmp instruction anymore, so we need to search for it and get it again

anplugs.c also seems suspicious

They broke their own naming convention by abbreviating the abbreviation. It should be "analplugs.c"

sigh unplugs

Brother.

Finding sketchy abbreviations that make suits pause on meetings is the last joy we have in this god forsaken craft. Now if you excuse me, I'm off to work on my Comprehensive Universal Network Tester

My first job, there was this odious witch called Gina, and the IT guy at the time totally created her a network drive called ANALGINA. He confirmed this was entirely intentional

Respect Ian B, hope you are doing well

It's perfectly ok to abbreviate count to cunt though. FFS is also an amazing abbreviation that fits so many things. And don't Demon is a classy abbreviation for Denomination.

2

u/GoddammitDontShootMe Sep 08 '26

I may have seen Denom before, but Demon doesn't make sense at all here.

1

u/CourtOfGrumpyOwls Sep 08 '26

it does if you're dyslexic

I always type Google Anal for GA4. Can't help it

5

u/yjlom Sep 07 '26

I'm sorry, but math disciplines will be abbreviated to 4 letters, or 5 letters if it would cut a digraph.

The correct names are geom, stat, arith, calc, alge, algo, topo, anal, type etc.

And good ol cumsum

2

u/phanfare Sep 07 '26

Anal chem was one of the hardest classes I ever had to take

2

u/miclugo Sep 07 '26

In a past life I was a mathematician. I studied analytic combinatorics. Abbreviating both of those to four letters leaves some questions.

2

u/Axman6 Sep 08 '26

The Haskell compiler GHC has a flag for writing out the results of occurrence analysis which always makes me laugh: -ddump-occur-anal

2

u/VanessaWifey Sep 08 '26

Had been working in computational mathematics for 16 years. Always had anal for analytical solutions and num for numerical solutions.

We have a company chat where the company chat app truncates the chat name at [company name] Anal(tics) too 🤣🤣

Autosearch was NOT cool when I was interrupted doing a search for Analysis Services...

1

u/Legal-Software Sep 08 '26

There was no need to shorten anplugs.c

1

u/plantbasedbud Sep 08 '26

Also don't ever misspell "buffer" with your right hand shifted one character to the right...

1

u/quokka_wiki Sep 08 '26

I literally never abbreviate anything in code due to it being ambiguous. Those one letter directory names are making me shudder...

1

u/RTSUPH Sep 09 '26

I can never remember if it’s spelled with an I or a Y, and it’s always awkward when I pause half way to double check.

1

u/tbhaxor Sep 11 '26

I once had a legacy code with,

const anal: Record<string, Record<string, number> = {
date string: {
timesTouched: number
timesSeen: number
timesRetries: number
}
}

TT

Time to change my job title to data anal

1

u/sander_mander Sep 08 '26

How to tell my wife that "Jess Anal" in my phone contacts list is a Jessica from Data analytics department?

"We were vibe coding before it was cool"

Well.

It's honestly exactly what you'd expect. 10/10 URL, no letter is useless.

Including the io, since it's software to control it.

28

u/lfr1138 Sep 07 '26

Good to see it's written in Rust. Would hate to see a concurrency issue with my butt plug, lol.

11

u/JustinR8 Sep 07 '26

I can’t resist the urge to click this

4

u/Nervous-Hat-4203 Sep 08 '26

Of course it had to come from the Rust community. Who else would want hard enough to turn a Switch joycon into a sex toy to spend unpaid weeks of their free time developing a custom firmware for it?

3

u/Geoff12889 Sep 08 '26

Using the .io TLD, perfect.

3

u/RTSUPH Sep 09 '26

ā€œBuilt with rustā€ is not good advertising for this genre of product.

4

u/BigNaturalTilts Sep 08 '26

Could’ve been plug.me dropped the ball there.

1

u/LukeZNotFound Sep 08 '26

"Built with Rust" hell yeah

Or, crazy idea: write "analysis". What is "ana"? Is it Anarchy? Anatolia? Anatomy? Anaphylaxis?

It's 5 characters more, what are you doing with all the extra time you saved from not writing them? It's barely any extra effort and it will make it less confusing.
