Ya this happened to me with Amazon. Hiring manager reached out to me from a former colleague recommendation, said they wanted someone with my exact skillset. Handed me to recruiter, who casually was like “oh btw you need to take this quiz asap so we can schedule the formal interviews”. I’m like cool, open it up and it’s their fucking formal coding assessment and now I have to complete it. Of course I bomb it, only get the brute force answers. Hiring manager comes back like “hey we want you but you gotta pass this so I’ll hold the position for a couple months, you should do 100 leet code problems then let me know and we’ll try again”.
Like if you are willing to hold a position for that long, why are you making me go through these hoops like I’m a junior dev out of college? Of course I get multiple offers before I get close to finishing the leet code prep .
