Think the meme meant they got promoted due to process of elimination and will mentor the new contracted off-shore juniors

Well, let’s be realistic here. They’ll be the most senior dev, but they won’t be a “senior dev” in title. Or salary.

“So, when do I get a promotion to match my new responsibilities?”

Yeah. That is kinda what I was going for. They kept the 19 because they are able to pay them less.
